I'lll pass on the coffee but I'll have a large O.J. thanks chole. Morning all looks like a beautiful day here on the windy side but looks nice out there. Plan to goto Newport News again today so we'll see I might even get in some rail fanning again hopping to see one of those little pullers they use for running cars they kinda look like a speedster with a coupler if I do will get some pics for you all.

Take care will talk again later

God morning!

I think I'll have a cup of that coffee. Thanks.

EG,

Nice shots of your road trip. Boy, they've really got that 2-8-0 all dressed up with nowhere to go, huh? It seems a shame to go to all the work and expense to make an old loco, any old loco, look that good, and then not make it operational. It's like running a 10 mile race, being way out in front, then quitting in the last 1/2 mile. I know there's a lot that goes into making a steamer oprational rather then just eye candy, but it just seems a shame to have such a good looking loco that can't even get out of her own way. Kind of like owning the worlds most expensive and ornate doorstop, you know?

I liked the "D" word things too. Those two SW's looked like they were earning their keep. And you found a caboose! In use! Oh, look at me now, I sound like Dr. Suess! Oh no, I did it again! I'm going back to bed!

Later all.

And after all that, now I gotta buy!

OK boy's, you know the drill, order up! This round is on me! [:D]

Hi all

Finally got around to ordering the detail parts for that tram – will then have everything to complete it apart from power trucks. Decided to order now as apparently production of whitemetal parts will be outlawed from July (new EU regs about lead – a lot of suppliers are ceasing production in readiness) so it's a case of stocking up while I can. Would also like to bag a couple of whitemetal tram kits but funds don't allow – hopefully they'll still be in stock in a couple of weeks time when I can afford to buy them!

PC, thanks! It's more of a kitba***han a scratchbuild though – it started life as a Tower Trams London Transport E/1 kit. Would quite like to modify another two but the kits seem tricky to get hold of.

Duke, thanks! Hopefully it should be finished soon, I've ordered the stairs, etc.

Scott, Wikipedia definitely has the edge over paper encyclopedias there, you can find pretty good articles on anything there. Regarding the jobs, the problem I have is that I'm no good at stress (retail is therefore right out) – ideal would be something in the county archives office, which seems to mostly involve searching through old documents. I'm something of a local history enthusiast so that would be perfect!

Bye for now

Hi Gang: It's been a bit since I've been in. The grandkids were here and they had the computer room. Number one granddaughter (Lara) and I did some work on the 7.5 and than ran the HO a bit. She did very well running both. In a few more years, maybe 7 or so the baby will be able to pull the throttle to. By than Lara will have taken over as GM.

I went down to the 7.5 this afternoon to put out some Round Up on the railroad. I got all the stuff out, measured the RU and than went to get the water. I put 2 gals of water in the sprayer and started up the line. I got it all put out and went back to the station. There sitting on the table was the round up that I forgot to put in the sprayer. I went to the house and came in here.

We just got a weather watch for the area. There were supposed to be a chance of thunderstorms tonight . Maybe they are early? Any way I'm going to cut and run.

Have a good one.

Oh boy time to wake up and get on with it! This past month while back onboard has been torturous to say the least and I'm just starting to back to some sense of normalcy. As for the Eagle Scout/Chief Scout equivalancy that I'm not sure about. The Scout program here is a three to four year program for 11 to 15 year olds. If the Scout decides he/she wishes to attempt to achieve the Chief Scout Award then they must complete a certain level of awards and achievements.
In May there is a provincial Ceremony with the Lieutenant Governor in attendance.

So on behalf of AJ, thank you

Mike- Have J-Bird checked for asthma. Deb's daughter was put into hospital for pneumonia on our wedding day. Then next year, same QUACKS said she had it again. B.S. I said. Took her to my kids pediatrician, gave her a shot and ten minutes later was fine. Asthmatic allergy . Good luck.

RT- Hang tough man. We are here for you.

Fergie- Soft winds and easy seas. Congrats to your son.

Prayers for all in need. Best wishes for all.
Been hot here. Temp in 78 to 84 for a week now. NO rain. Record low for march, less rain than ever before. No rain till maybe tuesday.

[#welcome]- to all newbies. Getting home each night after 7 does not allow getting on the puker. Its heck playing catchup with 4 or more pages to read.
Enjoy manana , ya'll.

It took the girls 3 days to clean it up he made a total MESS out of it he gets out of controll when he see a nice steam engine like that you have to slowly start with a so so steam and slowly work up to a nice one you never spring a really nice steam on him he goes nuts and just slobbers every where. [:D]

well went to Newport News but didn't get near the tracks this time sorry next weekend maybe.

Anybody in need of entertainment? Check out the Staying On Topic post out in the main room, might better pull on your boots first though, it's pretty deep in there.

Paul: hate when that happens.

RT: I wondered why the seats were all wet.

It's raining cats and dogs here, it's rained .9 inches in about a half hour. We were expecting some really bad storms, but the sun went down about 10 miles before they got here and the rotations slowed down and mostly went back up before it came across us. They say not to type in a thunderstorm, but it's a wireless keyboard so it won't hurt me right?

We had the annual calf fry at church on Thursday night. It's the second biggest event in town (first is the Christmas pageant in main street). Cooked a 135 pounds, and there weren't many leftovers. Come to think of it we had a tornado warning that day to...we even went to the basement at school, that's the first time in 13 years I've gone down there for an actual storm. Usually we just go drive around and look for tornadoes, I've seen a bunch doing that.

Anyone noticed we're getting near the 20,000 post mark? It should come around about the same time as page 1K it looks like.

So, I have discovered that since the funding for this class I am in is not enough to cover the o/t expenses for the instructors to give us the skills exam Monday, that the results from the skills practice stations we've done already... were finals as well...[yeah]. So that means all we have left to do for the midterm is the written part!
Still though, since I need to study for Wednesday's written exam, I won't be able to get any mr'ing in this weekend.
Well all, time for me to get going. Have some things to finish up before heading off to bed.
Take care...

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

JP I would think that the exam at this point is more important than MR'ing but I know the feeling but in the long run this will get you to do more mr'ing in the future so may you have a great exam so you can get back to what you enjoy doing

Well all its getting late thought I would just stop quick and say hi if anybody was around well chole I turn the night lite on and see you in the morn take care sweety lol

trainwreck100,

A few of us kicked around the idea of running a second contest for that a few pages back, but we decided one contest was enough.

All,

I'm still championing the idea that luct should get the same prize as the winner for his efforts in scorekeeping. He's done an excellent job and should be rewarded accordingly IMHO.

What do you think?

mornin all, coffee Janie please,
Well we spent last evening over at the hospital with J Birds, she's NOT a happy camper. Docotors decided she has RSV, but i'm begining to wander cause her brother and sister are both sick to , just not as bad. Don't know if she'll be home today or tomorrow.
Spent yesterday with 3 grandkids. Jocko and Leroy kept papa busy outside cleaning flower beds and mulching. Mothers was watching KC inside but ended up outside to. Shes not big enough to help yet at 5 months, but sure wants to.

ED , luved the pics from down your way,. That looks like a great rail fanning spot

Flip , may have to say some thing tothe docs on that asthma. J Birds never had any signs of it. We have 2 other grandkids with it, so it might be a thought

Greg , We use to chase storms up here and that storm front you had is suppose to be here tonight some time.

JP , good luck with your exam, I'm sure you'll do just fine

got a couple pics from Fridays VA trip along US 40, east of Montros. got this pair a CSX /BNSF engines east bound.

I got this one out back, 3 UP's west bound

I missed a pair of war bonnet GP's the other day. one was BNSF and the other still had SANTA FE. Hoping they get back through here some time

We're suppose to go over to Bloomfield, Ind. today and get us a new beagle dog. I'm hopen to get some pics on the trip. L an N had some tracks that ran in that area, hope they're inuse today I think IND RR either bought or leased some of the old coal mine tracks
time for chores, I've rambled on long enough

Ed,
Loved the shots of those MP15's awesome. Picked up a pair in CNW from Atlas run like a watch, first rate detail also. Next up Athearn is coming out with the MP15DC,can you say Milwaukee road and Soo Line boys and girls. To the humble switcher.
Was at Grand Crossing in La Crosse Wi. this morning, 2nd unit on a run of the mill stack train, a GP9 still in green and black. These are my 3rd Fav, engine next to SW's and F's. It was in the middle of a NS and BNSF GE's. Getting really old seeing GE's all the time, and stack trains. Give me a nice mixed freight anyday of the week.

Well, have you all been? The is done, so is the and will be working on the soon.

I've been playing with the camera a bit more. Here is a shot of "This Street" in downtown Gloetown

here is the other side of the street

Unloading at the Sugar refinery

looking down to Gloetown Junction

*** and Fergie trying to dodge the camera...

RT - Spyware are good to some extend but not full-proof. Nothing like a good virus protector working in conjunction with spyware.

PC - Thanks for your vote, but is a fun thing and I don't think I could leave CFO alone + she's not able to travel far these days. Thanks again, greatly appreciated.

Greg - That topic is pretty funny, I enjoyed it, thanks for the hint. Are you enjoying you new toy? (The stereo that is)

Flip - My old[/] friend, I mean young at heart, I mean [s]teenage senior, I mean... well you know... Good to see you on here every once in a while...

Fergie - In my days this Honour was known as Queen Scout. How time have changed... Congratulation to AJ, It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to get that Honour. Fergie I am sure you are very proud of your son.

Ed - Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks like another very successful trip.

Mike - Re the rabbit story - BOOOO ISSSSS ISSSS BOOOO BOOOO

Well that ‘s it for now. We hope you all have/had a great day

Happy MRRing

Good Afternoon, Chloe, I’ll have a root beer float, on RT’s tab. Thanks, RT! [:)]

BillT/wetidlerjr - never saw that big of a Bunn coffeepot before - I believe it might just be able to keep up with all of us in the Coffee Shop at once! [swg]

Thanks for the fill-in on Chief Scouter, Fergie - it sounds a lot like Eagle Scout award here in the U.S. is. For Eagle (IIRC), there are a mess of merit badges (some specified and some the Scout can select from groups), and he also has to complete (at least one - I never made it that far in my Scouting) a service project of some kind which benefits the Scout’s community/area. Anyone in the Shop who made (or had a son who did) Eagle? You can cover my errors and fill in my gaps, I’m sure. [;)] Good to hear that you only have a couple of diesels in the MESS(tm) Fergie - Well, three, since you have another on its way... Or is that four, and the C-Liner is a fourth? And I guess you’re not counting your Dad’s diesels, right? [}:)][swg] (ducking behind the counter here, just in case...)[:-^][:-^][:-^]

Ed - excellent shots of the engines - especially that fine 2-8-0 and the MP15s (of course several of those other diesels are very nice, also). Looks like your trip was well worth the time!

Paul, bummer about the Roundup hiding on you - it’ll do that sometimes, won’t it? One of those “Let’s go back to bed and restart this day” days... Good to hear your granddaughter is picking up the engineering so well. How old is she now? Wasn’t sure if you meant she’d be the GM for the 7.5 or for the HO line.

JP - good luck with your studying for that written exam. [yeah] Good that you didn’t end up having to do the skills part (again). Sent you an email, but I figure you had your nose buried in the books this weekend. Ace that test! [tup]

RT, the really nasty bugs tend to like to hide themselves as something you need or trust. Definite reason to *always* keep the bug-kickers running and keep your updates current - both the spyware and antivirus ones (even for those of you on dial-up!)!

Luc - you’re getting pretty good with that camera. Nice pics, and I see you are doing a good job of sneaking up on Fergie and ***, too. [swg] Good progress on the Gloetown. [tup]

QUOTE: Originally posted by pcarrell I'm still championing the idea that luct should get the same prize as the winner for his efforts in scorekeeping. He's done an excellent job and should be rewarded accordingly IMHO.

What do you think?

Hear, hear, PhilC.! What about free drinks for Luc for the entire month of April? We could each chip in a little and cover it, I’m sure. [tup]

luct,

Well, you ought to get something for your effort!
Amen!

We had a weather front move through sometime last night, but didn’t even wake up for it. That was after a gorgeous day Saturday - mid to upper 70’s (F, about mid-20’s C), sun shining - great weather! This morning I could tell (on my way - late - to church) it had rained last night, but the sun was back out again. This afternoon they’re saying we might get some more storms, but it looks like the center of the front has moved way north (almost into Wisconsin), and there’re no signs of rain on the radar maps. So we might skate by tonight and miss anything. Inch and Jerry and anyone up north (Wisconsin/Michigan direction) might get some rain, from the looks of it.

Have hit a bit of a slump on the layout currently. Need to clear some more stuff in the living room so I can easily get to the boards and move them outside for cookie-cutting. I want to get track down and start on some scenery. Then I’ll know what kind of room I have in spots for buildings and industries and what size to kitba***o fit. Also need to get motivated more to fini***he diner for the MRR club before they razz me some more about it. One of the guys said the workers at the auto factory (next to where the diner is to go) were going to starve! [:O]

Will get going and see about some clearing/organizing. Best wishes for those with checkups/Drs.’ appointments this week, or other kinds of exams. And prayers [angel][angel] for your concerns, as well.

Blessings,

Hi Gang: Here I am watching the PBS show about three families that live as the pioneers did in the late 1800. They have to build cabins etc. Some of the belly aching I here is really something. We are as a whole very soft.

JimCG: I think that she may take over on both. You know how women are.

Greg: I did get the Round Up out today. I filled a wheel barrow with gallon jugs of water and hauled enough to do the entire job. Now I guess it will rain and wash it all off before it can do any good.

The daughter and kids headed home uesterday. Mary Ann and I are alot more tired then I thought. She went and did laundry and I did the RU on the railroad. I think that we would both like to have taken a nap.

Inch: I hope that J Bird gets those problems straightened out. I think that it would be a good idea to check out the possibility of asthma or other alergie.

Luct: Those are good looking pictures of Gloe Town are good. It looks like the place is growing. Is that an 0-8-0 or 2-8-0?

Last night John and I went to a friends house to do some running. I took the 2-10-2 and it did pretty well. I think that it may have trouble handling the tonnage that I was hoping fore. Anyway I'll have to try it on my grades to see for sure. My friend, Ron, has the Lenz DCC system. Of course he had some problems. You know the Murphy's law of model railroading.

Well I guess I'll head out and feed. I have to put out a couple of bales of hay for the cows. I'll see you all later.
