Ken-I found what I was looking for,it was the picture that everyone was talking about the building in the background. It’s amazing how many posts you have to go through to find something you missed. Good picture by the way. The second set looks the best with the black offsetting the top of the cab and loco.

It’s good that you are able to start on the layout and sometimes SLOW and STEADY is the only way to go. Check out the Xuron cutters for track.

Evening folks ....... no time for even a quick cuppa Joe ...... we're getting ready to depart for a Gilbert & Sullivan evening at the theater - "H.M.S. Pinafore" - one of our favorites. Got "hooked" on G&S while in Halifax several years ago - even wound up meeting some of the people involved with the organization and actors. Great bunch! Anyway, I see my last couple of posts didn't shake anything out of the trees, so at least I don't have to play catch up!

My Polar Express shelf system is nearly done - just needs the "night sky" backdrop (wallpaper arrived today) - so I'll have some photo's soon .......

TrentB-I sat in the corner seat over there for a while before I said anything to see what things were like in here and when I saw that the people in here were very good people I started to talk here and there. So in other words,if you don't talk up and say something no one will ever know you are around and remember they can not see you here, it is a virtual world. Stars don't mean a thing to any of the people in here and I didn't even know I had one for quite awhile. Stick your head back in the door and say HI again and let us know what gauge,where,and when you model. Zoe or Chloe when and if Trent comes back in put his drink and what ever else he wants on my tab.

Glad to hear you found it. I agree, it can be a real challenge digging thru old postings sometimes. I think I’m going to adopt the ‘black top’ scheme for my ‘38s – of course that will require the addition of some cab rooftop air conditioners, as CapeJim pointed out.

Quantity Assurance – a documented plan for ensuring that the Honey Dues account stays ‘current’.

TRENT B, not to worry, It is clear that some close personal relationships have developed on The Coffee Shop thread, which is only natural. The sure way to get attention to a response is exactly in the manner you have elected. There is usually no shortage of sarcasm, especially for folks "outside" an established clique. Model Railroaders are ordinarily a friendly bunch but like any other group, established "coffee clutches" tend to be selective. I'm sure there is no intentional "snub" involved. Patience is always a virtue and perhaps "hanging in there" is best road for now.

HI,
I didn't mean to offend anyone its that I said "HI" inFeb and talked about the ole' ATSF and nobody seemed to notice. I'M freelancing a Santa Fe route through part of Co. and have pics of my construction if someone would let me know how to post them and maybe give me some tips. My layout is 12' long by 9' wide with a 2' slot 2' from the wall. Since I'm in law enforcement I'm still building the plaster parts.(no running trains yet). I started 2yrs ago and work when Ihave time or am stressed.
I think I need decaf. please! No doughnut jokes please[:D]

Stars are not a status symbol around here as it tends to indicate the number of times one has stumbled over or into a cow patty! The more stars you have means you're in for a rougher ride.

Well on the home front not much to report except I ripped up two sets of old double curved turnouts[V] Oh how that hurts. Now I'm realigning two new ones. Should have it all set by this time tomorrow... I hope.

Duke - Yeah - kinda in the AF. More like the Air National Guard. I'm what they call a AGR (Active in the Guard/Reserve. I'm w/ a unit in New York. As for promotions, I'm not too sure about the actual process at a active duty base, but atleast in my squadron at my unit, we do our 'tech school', PME, etc, and then, if there's a 'slot' available, we go in front of a board. It's more of a 'informal, formality' but you still have to wear the service dress uniform for it. I'm in a interesting situation right now... the 'higher up's ' at my squadron are looking into revamping the types of questions that can be asked. More specifically, they're looking into using any/all areas that one should be knowledgeable in to select questions from. Those areas include, but will not be limited to NCO specific, and job specific. I was used as a guinea pig on Thursday when I did mine, and they(board members) told me so before they even questioned me.

So how does this all work? I finally figured out the last page part, but most of the rest will take time. All this on a borrowed lap top as I just got back from Sebring and didn,t feel like retreiving my 'puter from work. Many of the threads seem to refer to earlier conversations/replys without any logical continuity. I definitly need more training.No donut jokes, but what I thought was this. I recently got back into my trains after a 20 year layoff and am trying to get back up to speed. I just read the book Playing With Trains.by Sam Posey and wonder what we are leaving for our kids? I do the train set to relax after a long day. Whats with the teams and re-enactments vis-a-vis prototyping? How do we interest a computer/game-boy generation with mountains of routing paperwork or have we become an ultimate expression of selfishnesh? What are we all about now? J.R.

Hey Duke, you have chosen the right hobby for stress relief. That is, until you finally come up with the perfect name for your railroad only to find when you've lettered your first car: "South Halifax and Indian Territory" which simply won't fly when mixed company shows up. Sorry, but this is probably better than a "donut joke?" Seriously, my home town was on the Frisco mainline and Santa Fe ran passenger service on a branch from K.C., Mo. Incredibly, both Roads ran their passenger runs to K.C., Mo. leaving at exactly the same times from the local depot. The Santa Fe train always made better time due to routing and better equipment.

If you will be "free lancing" a Colorado division, will your scenery favor the mountains or the eastern plains? I hope your track plan is established so you can work the scenery around it instead of the other way around. Wish I could be of help on posting your pix here but I'm a total cyber ignoramus. Trent- I do Not consider myself a Modeler. Not in the context as Fergie, Cat Tom , Teffy and most all of the others are. I am a train fan . I enjoy running my stuff. I'll run 25 to 37 cars at a time all in the same R.R. name,-ie-S.F. , CSX, FEC or what ever I feel like at the time. The only quirk {butt out Fergie} I have is NO duplicate numbers. There are very few MRR tips I can give , however, I have helped someone a few times.
I am usually in a shell by myself but this forum and these Gentlemen have taken to me as you cansee if you have been monitering this thread. I am very proud of their friendship and enjoy the bantering and have been blessed with their prayers for my wife. 'Nuff said. Join in. Have fun. Have a drink, Hard or soft, hot or cold. I think I have said enough. I'm to d--- old for any H.S.

Ken- Very slow but steady. Ice packs are helping and the ice machine at night. $300 machine. We got one when Deb had her lumbar surgery, and when they were going to give us the one she was using for this surgery we told them we had one. Take it they said for they cannot reuse them on other patients. It would be thrown out if we didn't
CSX had a mile of old units next to SR19. Hoppers in sight-bulkheads in trees. They were gone thursday. Friday they reappeared but the bulkheads are in sight and the hoppers are in the trees. I sent pics to Trolleyboy and Silverspike. Have more if you're
