Ed, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if they were the same hobby shop, or different ones. As for Teffy, who knows Ed, who knows.

Noah, I have Bergie's e-mail, too. So, let's keep our eyes peeled, ok.

Evening all...

Didn't get much done today.... just lounging around (as usual for me).... My brothers computer took a dump about 3 weeks ago or so and he bought a new power supply for it.... so while he was at work today I replaced the Power Supply. (good thing I know how to work on computers).

This made me a little money so I can start looking into prices of lumber and stuff for my coffee table that I will be building. Now I need to come up with some plans for the table.... I pretty much have it pictured in my head but I think I am going to need to put it on paper seeing as I am going to be having another one of my brothers helping me with it. He is quite handy as well but very dyslexic (sp?). I'm not going to be adding in the trim pieces or anything on the plans.... that will be done later.

Well I'm off to go watch some TV for a while. Talk to you all later.

Good evening everyone. A hot chocolate again please Chloe. Hope it’s not habit forming[(-D]
Ed
QUOTE: QUOTE: Matt: …anyone remember the "starfield" screensaver on older Windows versions?
I do, I do!! Was that really an older version? I just thought I didn’t know how to activate it on my current computer.
It’s on Windows XP. Go to control panel, Display, Screensaver, Starfield. Never thought I would be able to find that sort of an answer [:O]
***: Welcome home. That Tuesday thing is headed for us as well. We escaped your 15 inches today, but will still have to clear the driveway tomorrow, perhaps 4 inches plus drifts.
QUOTE: but there was no Hi speed enet service deep in the mountains, only dial-up modem at 20kb.....so slow that I could almost beat the email via smoke signal or dogsled. So I didn't go online to this forum at all...
Welcome to my world. 24 kbps on dial up. I’ve got the satellite for incoming, but they are discontinuing that at the end of June[V] I’m doing this now on the dial up as I don’t want to eat up too much satellite time. (and yes, I do disconnect for writing the thing, and reconnect to change pages. A monumental bore.) [banghead]
Thanks for the kind words on layout progress. It’s all a stall really while I avoid hooking up my dcc and smoking $s I can’t replace.
Noah:
QUOTE: Bergie looks like He’s getting things cleaned up. He’s kind of become a friend of mine and I know his home e-mail for the weekend. Somebody flag me in the shop here or by e-mail if I miss something that Bergie needs to know about and I’ll get in touch with him to make sure he sees it
This isn’t about the recent flaming thing. If you have Bernie’s ear, could you suggest that the forum pages show who is in the topic “room” at the top of the page as well as at the bottom. I think that would be helpful as one would not have to scroll down to the bottom just to see who might be in the Coffee Shop before one starts to read. It can’t be that difficult to arrange, and would help people like me, and I believe you, who are on slow modem dial up and for whom getting the page in takes a while.
The cinnamon rolls are safe from me, I’m too busy drooling over Bananas Foster[dinner]
gnnpry[#welcome] Sounds like a good spot. If you are in SW Wisconsin, you may be not too far from Noah. Our bald eagles are seen circling from time to time all winter, but the ospreys seem to go south for the duration. It’s the ospreys that nest closer to us, but still not as close as that![:8] Enquiring minds will want to know if you have a layout, and what scale, BTW.

That’s about it for tonight. It’s taken all evening, what with TV, and having to wait until Enterprise came on A channel in Manitoba before we could watch it. Our local station ran a repeat of a last season episode instead of the conclusion of the current 3 parter![V] Still all’s safely wrapped up now, and the Klingons of the first series are suitably explained[^]

Goodnight all, and God Bless.

Hi Gang; I’m trying that trick about pasting the quotes to word.

Tim- Paul, how is the wife’s tractor?
Mary Ann’s tractor is doing OK. I need to replace the gasket between the exhaust manifold and the stack, but that is all.

Tom; I got the truck back today. They had to replace the radiator. Cost $421 for a new one installed. The good news was that they didn’t charge me for the loaner. I think that we’re going to buy one of there rental F-250s when it comes up for sale soon. It’s a 2005 equipped for pulling a goose neck as well as a bumper pull trailer.

Grubby- Hi guys, I am just starting out building my first "adult" layout...after a break of nearly 30 years. I have been enjoying sitting back and reading the forums for a little while but decided it was time to be more than a passenger.... I am sure I can find most of the info I need by searching but I may just ask the odd stupid question or two just to save a little time :D. Getting into it as my son is nearly 6 and hanging to play with the trains........and I am hanging to do something as well. A few trips to the local hobby shop have unearthed an absolute gem of a shop owner which seems in stark contrast to most of what I am reading... anyways GL HF.im

Welcome. Have a cup of whatever you like on me. Nice to hear that you have come back to the hobby.

It’s late and tomorrow is another work day. Only 6 days until the park is open. As they say “ Once more into the breach. “

Well it seems to work. Only Problem is that word checks your work, guys. Not to worry. I’m the last one that should be correcting others when it comes to the use of the English language. I only took one foreign language in school. English

Good Night All

Definately North American... just trying to work out where my concepts place me in the real world... My knowledge of US railways is very limited but I will do some research and find out where my terrain and industry concepts place me. I have found all the old parts from the old layout which was sort of English (Hornby stuff) but I don't like the English style that much. These are likely to be stupid questions I start with though, so be prepared to dazzle me with your knowledge of US geography :P.

trolleyboy, I know ehattons.com will ship overseas, orders within the UK usually take about 4-5 days to arrive though I'd guess it'd be about the same amount of time to get to you - our postal service is seriously odd, have had sizable parcels the next day but smaller packets have taken a week. Looks as though Tramalan (the other address) operate by mail order but seem to just have a postal address rather than proper "e-shopping" - they do have an email address though so contacting them to check shipping, etc. should be easy enough. They've been around for a while which must be a good sign!

Good Morning clubbers-Coffee Clubbers that is.
First a [#welcome] to all the new members,ftwn-oh forget it,to long,grubby,g'day mate
and everyone else I missed.
Trent-where in Texas might you be.

Ed- thankyou. Please keep your hat on when in the sun. The OJ is nice and sweet.

Must have missed the post re- luc being ill. Have "E'd back and forth. He didn't say anything.

John- Rehab will be after 2nd op. Re my echo test- you know the plastic piece that keeps the coupler tight on the first McHenrys, well the little valve where the blood enters the chamber looks just like it. I was watching the action and Darn, that looks like the plastic spring on the early couplers came into my mind.

Duke-Did I send the pic's of the SST's last flight?

Trolley Rob- I found the Mt.Dora trolley-took pictures. It is powered by a 454 engine and uses an Allison tranny.

Glad I missed all the to-do re-Al. Good modeler, bad attitude. Guess he qualifies as a FLAH.

Ryan- I drive a van for the county trnsporting those that qualify, to drs, hospitals, work court, shopping and where ever they need to go. From moms with babies to a 97 year old navy vet.

Good morning... a voice from the depths of the solo modeling world... only heard ,(up till this point ), when in need of tips, guidance, or just a simple confirmation that my ideas or plans are worth putting into the action phase...
-and more often than not... not even a voice, cause I simply read . Ya'll ask all the questions, and I too reap the rewards...
-but, having observed "your" interactions over the past couple years, I felt now an ideal time to throw my "hi ya" out there.
Well, anyhows.... I did go through a "chat phase" several years ago, and don't really see myself getting too into that end of this... but I did wanna put this out there... for me.... cause as long as ya got this, ya ain't no lone wolf....
Danimation (always on the mainline)
-ps- thanks for all the help....

Good morning everybody!!! And a big welcome to Grubby in Australia, and Dan from Pennsylvania, the land of "horseshoe curve and some of the best train watching in North America other than maybe Cajon Pass in Ca.[#welcome][#welcome]. Please have one of Ed's big glasses of OJ from his Orange grove in in olde Mexico on the Gulf Coast. [[:)]

Der John, Luc, Fergie, and Fundy Northern.....it sure looks like we are going to get walloped again!!! This storm track for the storm coming out of the Gulf of Mexico is going to pass off the tip of Cape Cod I believe, and it has "copious" amounts of water content within it. We could easily get 2 to 3 FEET here in Central Massachusetts and most of New England. I don't know where I am going to place the snow. I have the director blade on the snowblower at maximum uptilt now to get the snow up over the drifts and banks of snow. So get ready up there in Nova Scotia along the Cabot Trail!!!

Dan: you sound like you have roots in the south, maybe Texas ???? Good to have you here in the Coffee Shop, and yes, you are correct, this bunch of guys in here are nothing short of terrific, I wish we were all neighbors. [:)]

Thanks for all the welcome back notes guys, I really missed the forum for the past week. I will say one thing, I can really feel for you guys who have to live with dial-up modems and 28kb enet service. I had that for 12 years before Cable came to my area with hispeed enet service. I have 3mb enet service now, and it is blazing fast.
I sure hope that all you guys on dial-up either get DSL or Cable to your areas soon, you will think you died and went to heaven. ][:D][:D][^]

I am trying to get back to construction of train room, but I have to add a USB hub to Lorraine's computer, which will allow her to place the Printer and Scanner where she wants it in her room. The doggone big fat serial cable for Printers costs $40 for a 10 footer, so I decided to go USB, much cheaper and faster anyways seeing her Scanner and Printer have USB ports. So I may get back to the train room by lunchtime. [^][^]

Tim: get ready Tim, looks like another rain storm bearing down on southern Cal!!![V][V

See you guys later, time get going...
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Welcome Sir Dan of the Northeast Corridor.Pull up a chair and stay for awhile.
And just so you know not all coal trains are slow.(Ive been know to violate with them on occasion.)
Funny thing about coal trains, when there stopped they dont want to go!
And once you get them going they dont want to stop!

well I have come up with another idea for my layout. With this one I will be able to have alot more room for a yard and everything else that I would want... I am going to build a shelf above our entertainment center and our piano for the layout.... now this will be fairly high and not everyone will be able to see everything. At least I will being 6' 3" .it's going to be roughly 10 or 11 feet long and aproximately between 1 and 3 feet in width. I still have to do the measurements for it and then eventually start designing my shelfwork (benchwork).

GOOD morning--I guess. If I were a drinking man, I'd probably lace my Vienna Roast with a little rum right now. My school retirement and my bank don't seem to agree on what kind of tax-free 401K I can start, and that's only for starters! Went to Home Depot last night to get some 2" extruded foam insulation for an extension I've got planned (unhiding a hidden return loop) and got informed that the stuff has been banned out here in Sunny California--hello? I guess it's dangerous to the Condors or something. I'm a fifth generation Californian--ancestors came out here in 1850 from Germany, Austria and Cornwall--but sometimes I think this place has gone completely nuts. we're the only state I know of that has an extinct state animal (last California Grizzly was shot in 1939 or thereabouts), an illegal state flower (Poppy, and we all know what THEY produce) and a state song that's out of print. Actually, as a musician, considering the quality of our state song, that's not a terrible loss. So anyway, I'm trying to work with this new Insulfoam and I've got beads flying all OVER the place! Hope my mood improves by this afternoon, I've got to play Vespers at my Parish--hey, maybe I can chalk the whole thing up to the fact that it's Lent, do you suppose?
Oh man, I need some more coffee!

Der, I'll pass that alogn and see what comes of it(as long as I remember).

Well, not much phisical evidence that I did much on the layout today, but I oiled a locomotive and tested a few rolling stock so it's up to par(checked coupler height, made sure ti ran around the layout, ect). I really should probably get some more rolling stock processed, I've got quite a few to go. Give me a shot of OJ and I'll go.
