Evening all, hope everyone is doing well, or getting well [:)]

Mitchell, you are popular, My son showed the sponge bob to his friends, and they all think it is awesome. He said my friend did it for me. Thanks buddy.

[#welcome] brclem!!! Enjoy the coffee and OJ. I take the smoothie orders, and mitchell does the frying. Have a great time here. Very Good Company.

Trainwreck, how long did it take you ?

Fergie [bday] sorry its belated, especially after your trip. Travel carefully, and have fun.

Paul,
QUOTE: Mitch; I like the Sponge Bob loco. I've been spending the last few days putting a new nose on the Sponge Bob figure at the park. Someone broke the old one off and made off with it. Fun,Fun,Fun.

did you get a picture of noseless sponge bob ? That would be cool !

Lawrence,
QUOTE: Just poking my head in the door as I prepare to head to Montgomery, Alabama. Any good railfanning down that way? I may have a couple of hours tomorrow.

Have a good time down in Alabama. Hopefully no rain or snow for your visit.

Gotta get the food into the young 'uns. Will drink some more java later.

Paul:
I took John's advise and by opening another window with the MR forum in it, I can go down the page and answer item by item. I did the last post that way and that way I can get most of the answers done.

John:
Are you aware the us HO guys are almost surounded by you Nearly invisable guys.

Good evening gents........ along day today, between mopping up water in the basement, running to HD for more wood, wire, and insulation for the train room, and the local CVS for cough, and sinus medication, clearing drains in the rain ( real good for a cold to get wet with 34 degree water ). Ohh well, Ed's OJ tanker is due on the siding tomorrow from Mexico, thanks ED !!!!!!!!

ED : Thanks for list of tools Ed, it is good to see what the pros use, I will be heading up to NH next month, and will be stopping by one of my favorite HS's there with my shopping list, also the BIG E in a few weeks.

Paul : send some warm weather up here Paul, that is about the only thing that is going to clear my head, I can't stand in the shower all day to get rid of this cold.

Der I had a pond bejind the house, that is what caused all the trouble. I never got a chan ce last Fall to build the stepped garden for the wife, with proper surface drains. I opened one up in the rain today and that took care of the standing water against the foundation. And get this Der, I live on the TOP of a hill, not the bottom!!
Thank you for your list of tools to add to my list, and great idea on the home made compass...love it !!! I also love square slot screws, they ARE superior to all other types for sure, I have used them.

Bob : The " creeper chair " is a great idea for working under benches, I have enough stiff necks and shoulders from crawling around in tight places, don't need any more.

brclem : welcome to the coffee shop[#welcome], watch out for that guy who likes to brew STRONG coffee, he uses it to age his cars. Maybe I should dring some for my headcold, it will wipe out anything!!

Fergie : Stay safe, and Happy belated BD, Lisa said you were 62, is that right ???[bday] It will be cold this weekend, I hope you brought your soldering iron !

Flip : A cure? Let me have it please, I have tried everything from A to Z including Der's fruitcake soaked with Captain Morgan's Spiced rum, Ed's OJ from Mexico, the coffee shop's two day old coffee that has been through the one week old stocking filter.

Paul : I will check those back issues for tool list also, I never got a chance to go through the mags with the holidays and grandkids all here. I know, no excuse, your right !!

Well, if I'm going to shake this darn cold, I had better hit the sack.......bon soir mon amis!

Happy Friday, all! I'm in Spokane, WA, tonight, waiting for the after-midnight eastbound Empire Builder (I usually just drive down to Everett and catch the train there, but there were no seats from Everett when we finally got around to booking tickets!) Something of a tradition - when I'm in the country that is - for the MLK weekend: those of us in the Puget Sound area hop on the train there, my dad and whoever else he can round up in Spokane hop on the train there, and when we wake up we are in Whitefish, MT for 2 days of skiing. Sunday night the westbound train takes us back!

Greg and Tom - yep, Fallon is a much different climate from the Sound! But I grew up on the Eastern side of Washington, which (at least to me) has more in common with Northern Nevada's climate than Seattles. I've visited there several times over the last few years, and believe it or not it's not the summer heat or winter cold that bothers me much, it's the dryness and the altitude (about 4,000 feet) that I find I have to acclimate to.

***- good idea on the notebook. Between this board and my 15 year (or so) collection of MR back issues, I've got a wealth of great ideas at hand but now I need to figure out a good way to be able to find that "one" idea I need when I need it!!

good late evening or actually early morning gents[%-)] I just got back from a trip home it was dads birthday and I went to my old hometown hobbyshop been in business 55 years and still goin strong! *** don't talk so poorly about my weathering concoction espeacially if it ends up curing the common cold![8D]Greg those DVD prices are CDN funds so in the longrun it's about the same.[#welcome] newbies don't worry my extra stong is in the old discoloured pot so it should not be difficult to tell which pot is drinkable. *** by the way some small clamps for holding models together when the glue is setting and a scale ruler are also a good idea to have in your tool arsenal, once you get to doing scenery as well a decent spray bottle will come in handy I use old windex bottles cheaper than buying those dinky woodland scenics ones. Mon ami ***, this will get rid of a fever. Warm a glass of milk, melt small amount of
butter in it like cracker size- pour in a shot of whiskey , drink it down. [don't smell it].
Put on pajamas, put bath towel on bed, get in bed and cover yourself. When you get
up in the morning the fever will have broken. Worked for me many times.
Good luck, hope you feel better.

Good Morning All:

I guess I'm going to have to go on a serious diet as I hit 215 this morning and the blood sugar has been above 130 now for two weeks and I'm unhappy about that.

This is a link to a train wreck where a diesel ran into a steam loco - so much for the anticlimer on the diesel:

http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/8199/head_on.html

Isn't their a guy on the forum that states "steam rules" I wonder if he's seen this picture.

We've got to take Mom back to the Dr. today for her post op checkup but the eye is looking good today.

Good Morning All: (Well, 45 minutes of it are left here. ) Glad to report that when I looked at the van this morning the interior lights were all out. Having disconnected the trickle charger (Canadian Tire vintage 1971) and started up, the door light did not come back on. So, I put back the bulbs I had removed last night, and switched the cargo light back to "on". Parked up in the driveway ready for the lunch run today, and everything seems normal. A Mystery of the Universe, I suppose. The battery had shown no signs of being down, BTW.
Greg:
QUOTE: Now, back to the real world, or not, do any of y'all get the Last of the Summer Wine? It is one of the local Britcoms, but it airs every night instead of only on Sundays.

We get that every Wednesday on "Vision TV", a "spiritual" channel. Of course, we would all approve Mrs. Pegden's line to her daughter-in-law Glenda, "Drink your coffee!" LOTSW comes on right after Chef! Do you know that show?
QUOTE: John and Rob: Around here DVD players are 34.95 at Wal Mart, might be a little higher some places, but still pretty cheap.
That's about the price we heard for a WalMart DVD. Haven't seen one at that yet.
Bob:
QUOTE: John:Are you aware the us HO guys are almost surounded by you Nearly invisable guys.

We're aware, the question is how are you aware?[(-D][(-D]
QUOTE: and the blood sugar has been above 130 now for two weeks and I'm unhappy about that.

That translates to about 10.1 on our scale, and I would be concerned too. My upper limit target is equivalent to your 110. I've been having a rough time keeping it down consistently there over the last month. I do have an appointment with the endochrinologist on the 25th. Maybe he'll sort out the insulin better. I hope you are getting the medical advice you need.
***:
QUOTE: And get this Der, I live on the TOP of a hill, not the bottom!!

Sounds like you may need the services of someone we knowa in Wisconsin who has an ARK![:D]
QUOTE: I also love square slot screws, they ARE superior to all other types for sure, I have used them.

Thank the inventiveness of a gentleman in Milton, Ontario for those.[8D] The "Screw lobby" in the States kept them out of the USA for years. The Philips is an attempt to do the same thing, but they don't do it as well.
Tim:
QUOTE: Morning all, it was a tremendous day in San Diego. 75, No rain, no clouds.
What, trying to steal Ed's thunder? Still, by the look of the pictures on TV, you guys had no picnic. BTW, did you see that brclem is from CA?

Good afternoon gents......check out this web site for pictures of what the rains did to raillines in California. Some lines are now closed until March while repairs are made. Very disruptive to rail traffic!!!

Sorry about that all, but didn't have time to explain much. [:(] I went to a job test / interview with about 60 to 70 other people. They are only hiring about 6 people. I had the email and phone message when I got home Monday night / Tuesday morning. Not much time to prepare for a trip and I never even went to bed before I left about 530 am Tuesday morning. I arrived at the farm about noon and then had to go get a haircut. It was not at all what I had hoped for. One guy was there who actually worked for the railroad and he was taking certain people aside and telling them what questions the interviewers would ask and how to answer them. So it basically was a waste of time, effort, money, and a great inconvience to myself and my family. I put about 1,000 miles on my truck for nothing I believe. So needless to say I am not a happy camper about it all. If I get the job it will definately be by the hand of God since man has seemed to "tamper" with the process. Once again the saying, "It's not what you know but who you know", comes into play. I don't mean God there, I mean man stacking the deck of cards for buddies.

I have not had the time yet to get past this post so I will continue catching up before I post again.

Good evenong all.

The hotel is coming along, we should have the walls up a bit later.

CFO update. Took her to the emerg yesterday when I got home from work, they took her in right away. Apparently, she is producing calcium type stones and uric acid ones as well. We were informed that she has 2 or 3 calcium ones travelling. These they were able to see on diagnistic equipment. The other ones can only be detected at the lab and are usually invisible unless they cause a blockage. In short, they made her comfy, pumped her up with heavy duty pain killing drugs and sent us home for now. The option of using ultrasound to make the stones smaller was discussed but where there are not any blockages, the procedure will not and is not being recommended. So, we are in for a spell of crying, screaminig, asking - rejecting - demanding Devine interjection, etc...

I also showed her all your best wished you sent in at the caffee. She said "But they do not know me! I am very touched. Thank you to all". That's from me as well.

[#welcome] brclem. visit often and have fun.

Bob - Your sugar reading are a real concern, by canadian standard the highest norm should be around 90 (7). I do hope you're getting medical advise.

derJohn - I found out about Bishop Fred one day when he was subbing at Holy Trinity a few years ago. He happened to mention it in his children talk. For some reason, I never forgot that. On a different subject, next time you come in town, let me know, perhaps we can get together for a cuppa.

Fergie - Hope you enjoy/have enjoyed your weekend scouting. and [bday][bday][bday] sailor!!!!!!!!! [oX)][oX)][:-,]

Must go for now.

Happy MRRing

Hi all just wanted to display my latest work. The story behind this one is with GDRMCo's ageing ALCo and GE fleet GDRMCo decided to purchase 40 SD70s for unit ore train use. 30 more SD70Ms are on their way aswell but here is a SD70:
http://www.railimages.com/albums/micklegg/afn.gif The locomotive's number would go on either side of the short hood and in the number boards. I just had breakfast so I wont need anything right now but could I put a deep fried banana smoothie on hold for lunch time pickup. Mitchell

I wondered about the conversion too, and so I had my software flip between ours and theirs.
133=10.2
114= 7.4
109= 6.1
101= 5.6 My math isn't up to working out the conversion factor from those data. Can anyone help there?
The units are mg/dL for the USA

BTW Elliot, a dishwasher would be an enhancement here. Or are you waiting for the second passenger car for the necessary space?
