it is afternoon, 15.45 overhere , and just finished waching Michael Schumacher win the European Grand Prix. ( formula 1 )
at the beginning I had timezone trouble too, but hanging out at this forum at a daily ( or most nightly ) basis made me get used to it.

I spent Fri, Sat and will spend today helping friends put in a floating floor in their new house. It's called a speedy floor, and it is one product that actually lives up to it's name. Made in Germany, and (after you get the hang of it) very easy and fast. We covered their great room yesterday, spent Fri just trying to figure out what exactly we were doing.
I've got about all of my old layout off the walls, now it is a playground for 9 (!) new kittens born on easter (from 2 momma cats). I think I will be posting a cat problem query soon. Or I might just dye them green and build that Martian RR. They act like alien creatures, can't run straight yet and attacking all in their path.I see a bad moon rising.
I think I'll try to talk my friends into putting a tv somewhere near today so we can see the races, actually had 2 FREE offers to go Indy, had to turn them down due to commitments. Ratz.
Bill, if I could, I'd ship you some of the rain we have had, after a dry April, we have more than made up for it with a very wet May. Looks like rain today thru Wed at least.

It's hard for me to remember what day it is, I've been working almost everyday since I returned from
vacation. As a matter of fact, I need to get up from this chair and go to work right now. I have to work
tomorrow also, which is a holiday here in the US. But if I don't I fall behind. I have to start a new garage
tuesday. If I don't work today, it won't happen.Dave

AHA [:D] all the "BENEFITS" of being sort of self empoyed, I know the problem I am also thinking off working tomorrow, allthough it is a holiday in Europe as well.

lupo- it's a thinking mans game, and you are ON it! The floating floor we laid was a bit different from Noah's, but the concept ...ok, it isn't quite the same.
All this floor floats on is a foam pad, I think Noah's might be floating out the door by now.
As we were putting this pad down, one side looks like a disaster blanket (US gov issue) a multi colored patchwork of shredded cloth, but the other side, the waterproof side, is a very shiny blue. As I was looking at it I was trying to think how it could be used for some kind of HO waterway. Could'nt really come up with an idea, but it just goes to show ya, everything has potential to a model railroader!

What happened here??? I take a day off from the forum and we go from one topic post yesterday to 19 so far today, including a bunch of new visitors, and it's not even noon. I'm thinking that maybe my posting here was throwing a wet blanket on all of you and that by staying away it'll encourage more posts. Or maybe it was Darth's post criticizing people who post on NES and The Coffee Shop as star seekers that started the new interest. Or maybe a batch of coffee with more caffeine.[%-)]

Very slow progress on the diorama, not enough to warrant posting another photo. I need to take a walk around here to find some suitable weed I can cut and dry to use for trees.

Heat wave continues down here - Ferg please direct some of your cool air this way. Gave in to pressure from junior, DW and nephews yesterday and took them all to the pool. Hibernating indoors with the a/c again today.

Have a good Memorial Day. My thanks to the troops, present and past, for their support and their sacrifices.

did not get my hands on Wicked Wanda's YET, but I have enough Downtown Deco models ( 3x Addams Avenue, Blair Avenue, old brownstones ) waiting to create sort of a street wich is going to have an Ill Repute,

There's a rain delay on the Indy race and I thought I'd jump back on and take this opportunity to thank you for the link back to the topic you started awhile back : "The House of Ill Repute". I must have missed that topic when I moved from NC to GA during that timeframe. As I was reading the posts I was configuring a diorama in my head, and now I've got the sketch pad out.

I've even got a name selected for such an 'establishment' to be placed on my layout. It's to be called " Lackanooki?'s ". I am going to use Downtown Deco's "Addams Ave. Part Four" along with Bar Mill's "Wicked Wanda's" in a seedy, somewhat abandoned looking commercial part of town, and arrange the structures so that additional patrons of Wanda's ( " Lackanooki's? " ) can find a 'room' upstairs, and around back of the "Bottom's Up Bar", as modeled in the Downtown Deco kit.. I'll have to add a metal staircase and 2nd floor door and landing on the rear of the "Addams Ave. Part Four" structure so that the real seedy stuff will only be visible to those who know where to look. Have to be a bit discrete.

Why did that topic just stop? Was it shut down by the Forum cops? It was a great topic string worth revisiting ! Thanks for the inspiration for yet another project diorama, like I need another one!

Boy it's muggy today. I live north of Hotlanta in the foothils and at least there usually is a breeze. My basement remains at approx 66 degrees without turning on the AC or heat-there's a separate HVAC system for my shop and mrr room in the basement and i've yet to have to turn it on.

Yesterday I was in Blue Ridge, GA and was looking over a Geep owned by the Georgia Northeastern, and used by the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. It was 'parked' in front of the restored L&N depot used by that tourist line. Everyone was gone, and yet I heard a loud 'clicking' or 'sparking' sound coming from behind the cab of the Geep - it sorta sounded like electical arcing of contacts of some kind, or the sound of an arc welder.. Any ideas what it was? The tourist operation was shut down for the evening, so I couldn't locate anyone on the property. BILL

The worst part about not having a boss is I have to make myself go to work

I also wanted to add that I am one happy camper. I'm subscribed to the SUPER CHIEF series of monthly releases of cars of my favorite passenger train and each month feels like it's my Birthday. Car #5 is scheduled to arrive at my home 6/1/04 and I can hardly wait! Can you imagine my euphoria come September, when the F-units are shipped? I suspect I'll wet my pants.

How's progress on the layout by the way? And is Snake still with us?

I'm glad Bill M posted that info about the rain delay at Indy. I thought I had missed it but turned it on in time to see the restart and the balance of the race. Personally I thought their layout lacked something. Just an oval with one passing siding. No spurs, no yard, minimal scenery. Not much for operations.[swg] [Disclaimer: the previous comment was in no way meant as criticism of model railroaders who do not choose to maximize operational possibilities in their choice of layout design.]

No problem Jim, the not responding message was really for Bill Matthewson. Public opinion is on his side, and there's no point in risking that with any further resopnse. Anyway it is fairly simple. You make your green salad and add anything to it you want it to have. Fry a good deal of bacon, crumble the bacon into the salad and poor the HOT bacon greese over the salad and the lettuce wilts immediately. This item must be served immediately. Believe it or not it is pretty good. It has been a while since I have had it and some people put sugar in the greese but not me. I don't believe this "salad" is on the Adkins diet though. [;)]
