I have a small HO layout (2' by 12'). It currently doesn't have staging but it was designed to have it so just now it is a bit limited. The addition of staging will make a big difference to how i run it. <br /> <br />So my answer is that if you design it in then you need it but if you design it without you don't. The resulting layout will operate differently but it is up to you.
