Wyman
Your are starting off at the top of the line. I had
the older Rivs and a lot of poor electrical problems
that you will not experience with the Allegheny.
This model has a much larger electrical wheelbase that extends into the tender,a dramatic improvementover earlier efforts.
This engine weighs in at 26.5 oz yet it has traction tires that could slip off the wheels
according to ModelRailroad News of Merlin Oregon.

I saw for the first time yesterday the Trix in our
hobby shop for $500.00 + tax.
Again according to ModelRailroad News(NOT MR) the engine & tender weigh in at 2lbs. 10 oz
There is a connection for DCC decorder,Digital sound system,Kadee couplers,RP25 wheel contours.
May also have a year warranty as in the case of the Allegheny.
Don't know if it has traction tires.
Perhaps their web site www.trixtrains.com could tell you more, I have not been there.

Also the lifelike model, has 20 wheel electrical
pick-up into the tender has a lifetime warranty.
No mention of traction tires and was reviewed by
MR, March 2000.
Have not heard of any negative comments about this
baby.

It appears that there's three great models out there, tempting and $pricey.

I'm a warranty freak, so I would sleep better at night with the Lifelife, but operating & detail performance should be compared if possible.
