1/87 Scale Semi Cabs At WalMart

I Wanted to let you know i found some 1/87 scale semi cabs at walmart the otherday ,Not bad at all there made by Malibu ,ill post some pic's of them soon  I paid $4.96 a piece for them

I thought it was a great deal!

Got a couple of those last year , must be a re-issue , nice die cast metal cabs. And yes beegle they are modern , really nice. I believe this was one of them:

The guys at the 1-87 gang identified them. I don't have the list at the moment. Each color kis a different brand of tractor. They are 90's models. I know they sad the detail is very good if you strip the way too thick paint.

I bought three of those 1:87 scale semi tractors last year. They look really good. As mentioned elsewhere in this post you'll find excellent detail if you strip off the over-thick paint.

I found one at Walmart that did not have that Aero look, looked more correct ofr a 1970's scene, but all the rest looked too modern for me!

But hey, for $3.97 each, who's complaining?

I started that thread and it actually only was about the cars.  But, I see wally world continues to meet the needs of the MRR world.  I know I picked up a car or two each week while they had them.  They have been out of the cars at my area walmarts for a couple months.  Nice to see they have picked up another product we can use.

Many people hate the effect walmart has had on the retail sector, but this is another example as to why they are such a force.  Give the people what they want at a price they are willing to pay.

My industry (airline) and my employer (american airlines) has a foe called southwest airlines, and they are the walmart of the airline industry.  My employer says they are trying to figure out why their business model exceeds returns of ours.  I say it is obvious, but I guess harvard doesn't teach how to recognize the obvious.

Now, to get some of those trucks..............

A Canadians perspective: I should put a dollar towards my sons education fund every time I read these posts and run to Walmart.... I gotta stop dreaming about affordable die cast! My solution - one of these days I'm going to apply for the Toys Category Manager job at Walmart Canada.

I got 1/2 dozen about a year ago but I thought they were $2.95. Anyone have a realistic looking chrome paint for redoing these things?

AL Clad paint from squadron hobby is a good chrome paint, heck to use but it's good. It needs a black base which they sell and then the chrome  several light coats. Most of the pro car modelers use it. I have learned alot from the Scale car site about painting.

It's great stuff!  IMHO, after two paint jobs you'll see that the airbrush application technique is not difficult at all. I've received a number of compliments on my Rivorossi passenger car shells.  Once my hectic schedule calms down, I will post them.  I hope that I can help start a trend in this hobby of challenging modelers to make streamlined passenger car shells look realistic.

Besides chrome they have copper , stainless steel , titanium .  Lots of their paints were developed for model airplane users. Fantastic stuff , very volatile , use good ventilation.
