Looking for review of Bachmann sound equipt'd 2-10-0
Posted by ragnar on Sunday, February 25, 2007 9:40 PM

I'm seriously thinking of buying this locomotive to run on our new DCC club layout,Though a dyed in the wool GN. fan our layout is southwestern by nature as we are in Arizona so thought I'd bite the bullet and purchase at least one Santa Fe engine, yes I'm aware the Russian Decapod 's never ran on A.T.S.F trackage but the price is right and it would be a useful little loco for a couple of the shortline R.R's we have planned.

SO!

Is anyone aware of a really good performance review of the DCC /sound equipted Bachmann   2-10-0 Russian Decapod available for reading ?

Thanks in advance....Larry.

I asked a similar question about Bachmann's Spectrum DCC/sound equipped 2-8-0 several weeks ago, but got no response. Maybe too few on the rails at this time since they came on the market only recently. I'm waiting mail delivery of a 2-8-0 from Micro Mark. I'll post my evaluation after it's had a bit of running and sounding.

Larry,

I can not speak for the DCC/sound version of the Russian but my DC model runs outstanding and looks excellent. So far I have only one loco that I have installed a decoder in and the conversion to DCC improved operation. Adding a decoder and sound to the Bachmann Russian is basicly just plug and play with a ready to go package from Soundtraxx. Either way, DCC or DC and add a Soundtraxx odds are you will be very happy with the Russian. I have nine Spectrum steam locomotives and every last one has been a very good to excellent runner right out of the box. Bruce
