close couple Athearn RTR F units? I think that the F units look soo much better when close together,so Im going to shave off a few mm's of the coupler boxes and us #43's(short shank).Do you guys think this will work OK?

It should look ok and also work ok, as long as your curves aren't too sharp. 24" radius shouldn't pose a problem, 22" I think would be pushing it. On 18" you could have a problem.
