Best Looking Locomotive in Big Sky Blue?
Posted by Pathfinder on Thursday, February 8, 2007 2:49 PM
It fits my era and general location, so I thought it would be nice to have a GN Big Sky Blue locomotive.  Just wondering what locomotive(s) others thought looked good in this scheme.

So far I like the SW1500 and U28B

I think the best looking were the F-45's!  Among other reasons, they didn't need an extra piece of sheet metal attached to the handrails for the roadname and logo.

Ditto, the F45 going away favorite here.

I would also have to vote for the F45.

I'll throw in my hat for the F45's as well. Gotta love those big cowls!

The repainted ones. Love the GN, but hate that scheme on most units.

You all beat me to it. The F-45 in Sky Blue is one of the best looking paint schemes.

I have to go with the U33C as the best, and the EMD F units as the worst.   I always thought the funny part of this scheme was the GN sign hung over the hand rails so they wouldn't have to paint out the name after the merger.

The F45 was my first choice as well but it looks a little weird in head on shots, too much black.  Would look better if there was a headlight on the notch on the front, it just looks like it is missing something.

Thanks for your thoughts.
