Best online source for MR supplies?
Posted by Z For Me on Sunday, November 16, 2003 3:37 AM
Hello members.
I am at long last going to start my first layout after 30 plus years enjoying reading about and collecting HO locos and cars but no layout.
I live in a very small mountain town in NE Nevada and our town does not have a hobby store. My wife and I are very used to ordering most needed items online but I need to locate a good and stocked MR hobby store online.
Any links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mark in NV

Many, many, many! Just search for "model railroad shops" and everyone and his brother will pop up.
I am lucky to have two wonderful hobby shops near me so I dont do alot of online ordering, but I
do alot of online browsing. Seems to me that you can find better deals online, but you have to consider
shipping cost. I like www.internettrains.com they seem to have a good selection. Also ,as you probably
know, MRR mag has mail order ads in every issue. Dave

Look around, i've found some items cheaper on Internet trains, and others they carry cheaper elsewhere, so ti's a matter of finding it where you want it.

others that are good:
http://www.hobbylinc.com
http://www.onlinetrains.com
http://www.wholesaletrains.com

There are others, but these seem to be the better ones, as they usually carry a wide varitey and pictures and descriptions.

well if you need help answering questions i find this place to be the best in the land. very active unlike some other sites i signed up for.

i usually go to:

www.walthers.com
www.1stplacehobbies.com
www.discounttrainsonline.com

usually i just browse and look at different things because i don't have the $$$ to buy new stuff. i have to go to shows to get my stuff.

You reckon??

I'd love to know which ones, cos they all seem so expensive to me, compared to American sites, even with the shipping.

Try www.ehattons.com or www.ontracks.co.uk for British models - both are reliable and reasonably quick.

Try ebay - there are good deals (and not so good ones) out there.

I have used all the sites listed above. In fact they are the only ones I frequent (mainly 1st Place, Internettrains, discounttrains, and wholesaletrains). No complaints about any of them.

Welcome back.
