Decoder for a Athearn Genesis SD75M
Posted by SOU Fan on Sunday, February 4, 2007 4:25 PM

Do you guys know of any other decoders for an Athearn Genesis SD75M besides the A6X?

Thanks,

Smoke

The A6X is made specifically for the Genesis models with 1.5 volt regulators for the headlight and ditch light bulbs, so you don't have to go to the trouble of adding a lot of resistors.

A TCS A4X decoder is the same size and shape, but does not have the on-board voltage regulators for the Athearn bulbs, so resistors would be required.

An NCE DA-SR decoder would probably also fit into the Genesis, but you would not have the necessary voltage regulators for the lights.

I think Digitrax also makes a decoder of the same size and shape that will fit, but again you would not have the required lighting control or would need to use resistors for the Athearn 1.5 volt bulbs.

The A6X is the best choice because of its built-in voltage regulators for the Athearn lights.
