TGV wheelset and "reamer"
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 9:02 AM

Good morning all, or unless your abroad,

Stuck inside today, no teaching because of a bit of ice and snow on the ground.

HO scale.

I have a question about "reamers"

I have my late 80's Lima TGV just about all ready to go, I have exchanged its metal and plastic wheels with code 83 compliant metal wheelsets that are only temporary. (they are not the best)

I have broken down, cleaned, rebuilt and resoldered the motor. It works and sounds much better.

I am thinking that instead of painstakingly searching North West Shortlines website and hoping I get the correct axle length, I would like to get a "reamer" to bore out the narrow and shallow trucks to hold a more over the counter tapered  40" probably wheel, but I haven't measured yet.

But I can not seem to find exactly what the "reamer" is called, where to but one, or even a picture of one. North West Shortline has one, but I can not make out what the heck is on the chart to order one.

If any one has replaced these wheels and know of the correct lengh of axle or the "reamer" , please let me know.

Also, has anyone bought the new Lima replacement motor for the old pancake motor sold on eBay, I would like to know how it is?

Back to bed for an hour!

Thanks

Not sure about the length question, but the tool is called a truck tuner. It is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Here is the Micro Mark link....

Thanks for the info,

I totally forgot about Micro Mark. I knew I had heard of it and seen it before.
