About WGH Shows

The World's Greatest Hobby on Tour is a new kind of event which showcases the hobby of model railroading.  Sponsored by the Model Railroad Industry Association, and also by the World's Greatest Hobby program, the show is intended to introduce the public to model railroading in an entertaining, lively, and family-friendly atmosphere.  The show hopes to create new train enthusiasts by exposing the public to the very best model railroading has to offer.  The hobby of model railroading has a unique ability to bring the family together in activities that teach many skills.  Model railroading skills span from carpentry to artistry, from electrical engineering to historical research.  Model railroading truly is the World's Greatest Hobby.

Tom,

I have a workshop I am giving on Saturday, but I plan to cancel it. So if you show up on Saturday, there's a really good Indian restaurant, the highest rated Chinese restaurant in the Pittsburgh area, and an authentic Mexican restaurant withing 1/2 mile.

I'll let you buy me and my kid lunch.

I went to the WGH show in St. Louis (was that last year?) anyway, it was very big and very busy.  Lots of families and folks having a good time.  It is in scope somewhere between the normal GATS type train show and the National event.  I was a little disappointed at some of the manufacturers who had booths, but only a really token showing.  The Atlas booth had no manpower and just a box to register for a drawing.  I would be interested in your impression if you go.  I enjoyed myself, although it was not what I was expecting.

Man, Chip!  You just nailed three of my favorites in one sentence.  That's a terrible predicament to put someone in!...Confused [%-)]

So...does the Chinese restaurant serve Dim sum?

If this is the "World's Greatest Hobby" I would suspect it may have something to do with collecting stamps.

Chip,

Not a chance.  Unfortunately, I may be standing in front of my house shoveling 12" of snow out of my driveway that day.  (The joys of living just south of the "Big Snow Machine" - aka Lake Erie.)  I'd sure like to make it to the train show.  But, at this point, it ain't lookin' too good.  I'll let you know if that changes...

Chip,

Just in case things "lighten up" around here snow-wise, what time are you planning on being at the Expo tomorrow?
