Traction tire for Athearn F59p
Posted by jcgisel on Monday, November 20, 2006 10:01 PM
Has anyone ever added a traction tire to anF59p. I never added a traction tire to anything. Don't no even if they make them. What do you do about the other wheels? Please Help me make my train pull these cars up a small hill. I have some really heavy cars and I don't think more than one engine looks right for 5 cars.

If the wheel didn't originally have a traction tire, you can't add one because the wheels with them have a groove into which the tire rests so it doesn't slip off.  Adding one to a non-grooved wheel will throw the engine off balance unless you put one on both sides, and then you're losing electrical pickup.
