BLI Cab Forward Need info
Posted by claycts on Saturday, October 7, 2006 11:31 PM

Just bought one and it has the smoke unit. The problem is there are NO INSTRUCTIONS about the smoke unit with the engine. They give you the fluid with the unit. Anybody got one? The reason is that we have a Christmas scented smoke for our "G" Gauge and wanted to use it in the Cab Forward. I know with some smoke units you can destroy them with the wrong fluid.

Will put it on the layout Sunday to test and such. This thing Talks to you telling you the scale speed, what next!!

I would check the "ingredient list" that the bottles have on them - if they're the same, I would assume that you could use the Christmas smell would be OK.  Although we know what happens when you assume....

That is why I am asking Smile [:)] I emailed BLI but was hoping someone had one already. I THINK it is the fan driven Sooth unit.

Clay,

When I got my Cab Forward, the smoke unit came with a seperate instuction sheet going over the details of the smoke unit.  Look for a single peice of paper, i thin k it is half sheet sized.    Also, located under the smoke funnel, is a blue switch to trun it off or on.    I had tio laugh as after awhile, it does smoke up the room if you run it for awhile.   But man, it sure is cool.  Enjoy!

Best Regards, Big John

Thanks Big John. It shocked the heck out me when I put it on the layout. The Smoke unit was on and had fluid. SO Smoke started coming out. I thought that it was frying!!!! It is a very well done model. I think The Genesis Big Boy could learn something from this QSI unit!! Sounds good, runs good and looks good.

Laugh [(-D]   Yeah, I know what you mean...too funny!    The first time I ever ran my beauty was a heart stopper.    By far and away my best and most $$$ ...  I was so nervous.    I put it on DC, let it fire up and slowly ran it....   about the 2nd lap, I saw smoke coming from the back afreaked out.  I ran...pulled off the track and sat there going"Oh No...Oh No!"   Till I saw that ti was coming right fromt he smoke stack....   grabbed the box, found the letter note.....  yeah, it was my classic moment in modeling.  I had no idea it had smoke.

Best Regards, Big John

My box only had:

QSI Book, Parts blow up drawings and the Warrenty Card. The Parts drawing is nice but no cross reference to the number to a part name. The lubrication info was on the drawing along with the "MAGIC WAND" Got the wand but no Rabbit ot Hat!
