3rd Times the Charm...I hope!
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, August 14, 2006 8:01 AM
Well guys, I finally got started my 3rd, and hopefully final, rebuild of my layout on Sunday.  My initial layout (Jan.2005) was the old standby 8x4 folded loop, which got boring after a very short time.  It had lots of nice terrain features like mountains and valleys and bridges and tunnels, but no operational interest.  My short lived 2nd layout (Feb.2006) was a flat layout with a ton of operational interest (I think 26 switches on a 14x8), and while it was fun to be doing all that switching, I didn't look like much.  I was disappointed in the look and decided to take a step back and figure out what it was I wanted.  I read Chips aticle about "Givens and Druthers" and sat down to make a list.  With my list inhand I opened my design software and started working away.   I went through a lot of designs and it took almost two months, but finally I got a plan I liked which addressed my G&D's as closely as possible.  I sat on that plan for a couple weeks, and after revisiting it, I decided that it was ready to be implemented.  So like I said in the first sentance above, I've started.  It's good be working on the layout again.  I'll post pics as I get progress of interest.
