I've recently (three months ago) started a small railroad club within my church (on a 4x8 in ho). "The Alpha and Omega Railroad Ministry"

I don't think we really get into the politics and power struggles yet (and hopefully never) as it's goals are more simple, to be a outreach ministry that involve the members (once a month in work) and is run after church and during events (for vistors to enjoy) Trains are like magnets drawing folks to them, and the little flyers as handouts have some scripture that takes thinking about trains to thoughts about God.

Maybe becasue it's new we really aren't focused primarily on super concerns over periods, rivit counting, and such.... and hopefully super offical rules and officers and such can be avoided over just getting a group together to build and enjoy the trains. It's been a wonderful success so far, in that the seed money has been almost matched by church folk in donations, as well as material donations too.

I know personally it's been some work, but a whole lot of fun too.

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT IDEAS OR THOUGHTS IN COUPLING TRAINS WITH GOD PLEASE E-MAIL ME:

weirschurch@aol.com

Maybe we can get a world wide group of Christians together in developing better materials. I can also send you a link to our webpage, it's a pretty small set up so far... mostly just some track on a table with ceramic houses, but in time it should have a mountian and some water and such.

If anyone ever gets to Weirs Beach N.H. in the U.S.A. look for the Weirs United Methodist Church, and come visit on a Sunday... We'll give you a go as a guest conductor.
