Not to scale items sold as scale

Recently I ordered several "N" scale turnout throws for use on my HO RR. The N scale cabbose hobbies turnout throws look about right on HO scale layouts.I was shocked by what I received. They sent the HO scale throws in a package marked for HO and N scale use. Iguess the guys at Caboose Hobbies (not the store) lost all their scale rulers. The HO turnout measures a tall six feet in N scale. At the last SF convention in Ft Worth Tx I toured some great looking HO layouts, some of them had the HO scale turnout throws. Sorry but they look way to big to my taste. I guess my point is: if IT ISN'T SCALE DON'T BUY IT and shame on any manufacture who tries to sell it.

I agree and have found lots of items sold as HO are too big or small including cars and buildings. But what makes me even madder is IHC and how they put a building on a box and when you get it home you find out you really purchased a small part of the building on the box and it says in real fine print " Scenery, shark, and figure not included. Buildings, locomotive, and Barnhart log loader availble separatly from IHC." I actually have a box with plastic logs and plastic boards. part # 5501. I'll never ever purchase another item from them. Not only did I not get what I thought, I don't even know where to get the shark, and that's why I bought the #%$% thing to begin with.

Interesting enough the C.I. grow throws is oversize for HO as well but so is our fingers that we use to throw said ground throws..I for one would hate to try to throw a scale ground throw in HO and would NOT even think about in N scale..There has to be a happy medium somewhere. But what price scale?

Flee,I suspect you may not want to buy other brands as well as other manufacturers dress up their picture with details not found in the kit..Always read the fine print..
I do not like that marketing approach either but, sadly it is one of the evils that the marketing types use to dress up a building..Walthers,Atlas and several others use that approach as well..
