I made a US purchase which was shipped by truck because I neglected to specify regular mail. Regular mail collects a customs fee of $5.00. After I received the truck shipment I received a brokerage bill for $55.00. So to save yourself being ripped off specify regular mail and develope your sense of patience.

Their best service only takes a month to travel from Detroit to the Canadian border, so cheer up, someone has to pay for all that AV GAS. Hmmmmmmmmmm very interesting.

Actually I always specify USPS, then I get the choice of Air or Ground.

Never a problem! It's the regular GST + PST + $5 processing fee.

If you go UPS it's a whopping $60 for brokerage fees etc. who needs that. OTOH I'm not in such a big fat hurry for my hobby items.[;)][:D]

[:)] I've ordered stuff from the U.S. for years. I get better service to Newfoundland from California using USPS than I do from Canada Post. I can get an Athearn boxcar in about 7 days. Just use air parcel post or letter post. Forget the couriers.

U.P.S into Canada from the U.S. is nuts, they chrage you $40.00 to $50.00 to put it though customs,(its more like ROB you) Canadian post has one fee for this service its $5.00 and thats only if you have to pay duty on it, The best luck I've had is going with U.S. P.S. airmail. I get it at my post office then and pay the $5.00 fee plus P.S.T. and G.S.T, and if theres no duty slipe I pay nothing.
