On30 Engine sizes
Posted by fsm1000 on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 7:59 AM
Being very short on space, more so than I ussually am for a layout, I found myself counting 1/4's of an inch trying to get as much height as possible in the shortest distance.
Then like a genius I realized I DIDN"T HAVE A CLUE HOW BIG THE ENGINES WERE<<<< AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH
sigh

Thank you very much. I did find it useful indeed when planning my universal HO gauge freelanced layout. Jingle Bell express is tall on indeed. Was it this kind of locomotive? https://www.ebay.com/c/8011380107 Apparently now Bachmann makes Northern Lights and Yuletide express, slightly renamed but it makes sense to use same mold for locomotives. Freelancing pan-HO gauge is for research reasons when finding the compromise of 1:80 scale done by Japanese model train company tomix to run models on the same track whereas prototypes use a different gauge. So for HO gauge I have standard HO which encompasses also a Russian 5ft gauge due to negligible gauge difference; [my creation] of P scale (3mm to foot or 1:101.6) for Indian Portland broad gauge; famous On30 but can also encompass prototypes from European industrial 750mm (29.5") gauge, and the new one - Sn42 (Japanese narrow Cape gauge) in 1:64 scale which would make for a correct scaling of trains to run on HO track, also encompassing AustroHungarian metre gauge.
