Train Club
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, May 27, 2006 11:31 PM
Hey guys,

I just got back from my Model Train club. Let me tell you, what I saw was AMAZING!! They're located in a Warehouse about 2000 sq. ft., almost all of it full of trains.
They have a fridge, a computer, a few workbenches, a nice bathroom, and most of all, the whole layout is wired with Digitrax DCC systems AND Infra-Red!!!
Now, membership fees are $12.50 a Month for Children(Under 12) and $25.00 a month for adults. Until next year, I'm a kid! The only problem is, I have to pay for it myself(Which I can understand...I don't expect my parents to anyways...).

Now, since everything is DCC wired, I need a throttle transmitter and a DCC-ready(Or Installed) train. Sound would also be awesome!

I'm leaning twoards the Digitrax DT400R Super Radio Throttle. It looks nice, has alot of features, is Infra-Ready and is radio, so I can walk around the layout freely. Another plus is that if I join the club, I can get a discount of $170.00!

Now for the train, I really don't know. Preferably steam, but whatever is fairly inexpensive and good.

Thanks,
Spit

Spit,
I would definately go with the DT400R. Have used all the other throttles. Since your club is Digitrax you won't regret this purchase. All new members at my club chose this throttle also after trying out a club one.

Yep, tried it out today and loved it! I like the features, and the easy clicking of the knob for forward/reverse.

Now that that is decided, what shall I do for an engine? I was looking for a 4-8-4 Daylight in DCC, but couldn't find one...I guess I could install a chip and all...

Well...I found the Bachmann Daylight 4-8-4 is only $109.99 at towerhobbies! Perfect! It's DCC ready...all I have to do is install a sound chip!

If anyone else has any ideas, please come forth!
