I just built a layout using this product. It really speeded up the track laying process. It is lower than cork, and you have to bevel it. I was not able to get it to hold ballast by itself, as the ballast I used tended to break up when pressed, so I nailed the track down, glueed ballast, then removed the nails. I like the product.
