You go on vacation, the first thing you do when you get there, is look in the yellow pages for a hobby shop.[^] You happen to fine a layout in town and you spend the whole day there talking to the layout members. Your wife has to send a search out party to look for you. You can sleep because you are keep thinging of builting a layout all night.

You might be a model railroader if...
...historic pictures of your family seem to mysteriously dissapear. When your family finds them in your railroad library you say "what--you've never heard of 'doctrine of prototype information collection' ."
...Amtrak comes to visit to find out how Amtrak trains always run on time on your UP layout.
...your wife cooks meals for the model dinner trains on your layout.

Hope you had some laughs,
Daniel

...You automatically salute your HO scale version of the 20th Century Limited as she blasts from inside a tunnel and hauls butt down a mighty stretch of mainline.

...Your wife says, "Why do you play with those silly toy trains? It's not like they're real." Angrily, you retort, "Why do you bother cooking? It's not like you prepare real meals."

...You take your prized Mikado to the alter during church services, wrapped snuggly in a blanket. You calmly announce to your pastor that you'd like him to bless your beloved child.[:D]

You might be a model railroader if...
...you owned an open pit copper mine to get the copper for your layout's wiring
...you also owned the railway that went to the mine
...then you modeled it in 1:87
...the answer to, "why are the world's forests dissapearing," is, "my benchwork."
...you modeled a 200 ton crane in 1:87, and it still lifts 2.25 tons
...you ever thought the creaters of Frasier saw a picture of a Southern Pacific shop building (i.e. Niles Crane...)
...your layout has 1:87 railfan clubs, which organize excursions on your layout

Hope you had some laughs,
Daniel

Its a month later and you`re STILL checking this column...
And I`m also guilty of the layout doodling, but at work. If somebody shows up I have to hide it, they just don`t understand!
