Installing My First Decoder

I am attempting to install my first drop in decoder, a Digitrax DN16311B, in an Intermountain FT, N scale B unit. The original light board had two wires soldered to it. But the Digitrax instruction sheet, which doesn’t impress me much, only mentions removing the two screws and take out the old board. It then only says to drop in the new decoder and secure it with the original screws. There is no mention anywhere of these two wires (red & black). I haven't even looked at the A unit yet that I'm sure will have more wires.
This is my first experience with DCC so any help is greatly appreciated.

You could visit Digitrax's website and contact their Tech Support. They have answered me in the past and they're the pros.
