Hi, <br />I can see your predicament. I actually ended up with two layouts (one HO and another O and S together). The O and S gauge isn't a scale appearing layout, but rather a toy train operation. If it was me in your situation, I'd go for the MTH. You can fit more trains into one space with HO, but O gauge trains are a lot more noticable and can really be a blast to operate. But remember that that is what I said I would do. This is your layout and not mine. The best advice I can give you is to do what you personally would like the best. One of the best parts of this hobby is being able to build a layout all your own. The best layout you could possibly have is the one you like the best. Don't be concerned with what all the other guys are doing or what the magazines say. The important thing is that you like your layout, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Look at different kinds of layouts and see what appeals to you. It could be a very detailed scale layout, a highrail layout or a tinplate type layout. You could even run both trains together. I've heard of layouts that combine multiple gauges and have beautiful results. You could even have two layouts by having legs on top of your layout that hold up another board of the same size above. If you do decide on just one, you could run the other train alog the edge of your wall on a shelf or else use it to run around your Christmas tree. The important thing is that you have fun!
