Hey all ! As a general rule, I buy Atlas or Kato engines, but a number of years ago, I did buy the Spectrum GE Dash 8-40CW'S. You get what you pay for of course, but now I see where the price of those are right up there with Kato's & the ad says that they have new tooling . The ad I'm looking at also shows either Accumate , or Micro-Trains couplers, but the same thick, bent back front rails on the front of the cab. Any suggestions ??

I hear they keep getting better, but nothing about the new tooling (at least in Diesels) equaling Kato or Atlas. While it’s good to hear they are at least heading in the right direction, I doubt they can justify the same MSRP as the leaders. I’m sure actual street price will eventually reflect their level of quality.
