Derail, yes, but better than nothing (and moveable). [/quote] Railcars 14 feet give or take a few feet. A full hurricane fed surge can reach close to 40+ feet ON TOP of tide and wave. They DO use loaded hoppers welded to rail as wind breaks on western railroads in locations that tends to create "rivers" of wind that is dangerous to cross.
