Centralia Soo Line Caboose Kit?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 30, 2006 10:43 AM

Hello All,

I just registered today and am looking forward to following the forums.
I have one request, if there is some one that could possibly help me...

Do any of you know where I could get one of the HO Scale Soo Line Centralia Caboose Kits that were released a couple years ago? I've been looking and looking, but to no avail. Do you know any hobby shops that have one on their shelves or other modelers who purchased extra cars? Thank you for your help in advance. I hope I'm able to locate one.

Thanks again,
Tim

before anyone suggests looking on ebay , i just did and there weren't any . sometimes you have to wait for what you want to show up though , there were centralia kits for ATSF and UP . there was also a bachman soo line caboose , but i'll bet the centralia version is more accurate and better detailed

Have you tried ePay? Some hobby shops have online eBay stores.
Good luck,

I'm sure one will turn up eventually, just have to keep checking ebay and the web. These were a limited edition item, I ordered one when they were first announced, checked back periodically and they said they had my order logged in, but by the time the caboose kits were issued they'd somehow lost my order so I never got one. Well, besides cheching Ebay, the only real chance you have is by calling Des Plaines Hobbies and begging. They've still got the molds, and MIGHT be willing to do a new run. Considering how popular the Soo is around here, I don't see why they wouldn't eventually rerun this great little cab.

I bought one of them when they first came out, mostly as an impulse buy. I built and sold it to a local Soo modeler, who was more than willing to part with his money for the completed model. I actually regret selling it...

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'll keep my eye on eBay and give Des Plaines Hobbies a call.

One other thing Tim, SOO modelers are especially welcome here.
