If you want to get running relatively cheaply to start, small gas switchers can be had used for as little as $1000. I paid $1800 for mine with a riding car. It is a Cannonball "Lil Gasser". It's not big or fancy, but,I don't have $10,000 plus for a live steamer. I recently bought a caboose for $700 to go with it. It's a hoot no matter what it is. The main thing is to get rolling. <br />
