I found it on page 3......

Anyway assuming all new locomotives purchased after WWII were diesels, I guess it took only 2 years for the change over. 1947. I know many of the steam locos went to the scrap yard long before they were worn out.

Took a guess. There were a lot of steamers out there so it took a while for the diseasals to become the "prime movers".

Did this count locos that were out of service? I suppose not, 'cause the scrapping, at least on CP didn't come ;till the mid fifties. Wish I hadn't missed it this week!
