Does any one know of a program that you can
inventory your Railroad Engines and rolling
stock. My biggest reason for inventory is so
that there is no double purchasing of items.
So you can carry a least if you are Hobby
Shopping or going to a Train Show. Thanks

If you are running a Windows based computer try using the database function of MS works.
If you are running a Macintosh, then AppleWorks has such a function.
Best of all for this and for "buying protection " use your Palm Pilot, there are many FREE downloadable inventory programs that will help you without having to lug around a laptop. Besides, your Palm will allow you to Synchronize with your spreadsheet or database on your home computer.
While I may seem to be speaking "Classical Geek" the devices and programs are very simple and have tutorials to lead you through.
Enjoy!

Doug has made several great suggestions. I use Lotus Approach data base and you can also use
Microsoft Access data base. Both programs will allow you to have a many different fields, total
your investment and print various reports. I print
one for locomotives, tank cars, and passenger cars to keep with me when out shopping.
Great railroading.

I have used the database on Microsoft Works for my inventory. I have one for motive power, one for rolling stock, and one for structures, etc. It has worked out well and you can print it out to take with you. I did it primarilly for insurance purposes. However, if you have a Palm Pilot, that would be more conveient for taking on shopping trips.
