Great Model RRs 2006 ?????
Posted by Marty Cozad on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 10:50 PM
#1 What makes a RR GREAT? I know this has been asked before.
I see that HO, N, and O will be in it.
#2 Does any one think its possible to have a 1:29th scale ,,Great Model Railroad???
What would you exspect to see if it was 1:29th??
#3 many of us largescalers go to mixed train shows, such as GATES , NMRA etc,,how many indoor smaller scalers would go to a largescale show?

#4 Does the scale alone decide what shows you go to?

enough Qs, Thanks[^]

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Conformity to prototype and detail usually get high marks in Great railroad models.

Yes, it is possible.
Same answer as #1.

As many as are interested in seeing something other than what they model, which is pretty much most of us.

No. All the shows I've been to have always had all scales represented, some of them featured obscure or non-commercial scales.

Did I understand your questions correctly? I'm not sure but I tried to answer them as best I could.

I go to the shows to look at the layouts more than to buy anything. For me, a show with a lot of layouts, regardless of scale, is the biggest attraction. I model in HO, but I'm always really impressed with what the N-scale teams put up, and there's a nostalgic side of me that can't resist a smile when looking at O-guage. I've yet to see an S-guage layout at a show, but I'd love to see what people are doing with those.

The liquor store in the next town (Harrington Wine and Liquors in Chelmsford, Mass) puts up a G-guage layout for the holidays every year. It's quite large, and features cars from various beverage manufacturers. They've got it wired with "pu***o start" buttons so patrons (and their children) can start up the trains, which stop on timers. It's a great exhibit, and I look forward to it every year.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

EXACTLY my point, most largescale is thought of as toy trains catigory.
Which as it grows , is now becoming more realistic than ever and can now fit into both places.

Model RRers many times weather their engines.

Now that looks more realistic[:p][;)]
WOOW even you rivet counters can enjoy this bridge.[:I][:o)]
