Hello sir.

I was reading another post and noticed this photo in your signiture.

It is a very nicely detailed derailment and wreck scene. How did you model it?

James, look closely at the bottom of the photo. It's not a model, it's a real wreck.[;)]

If anything, it looks "Photo Shopped" the way that engine is positioned on the tank car.

I was sure the way the lighting looked like it came from flourecent lighting, and the way are just stuck on top "Athearn Style" it looke like a hyper detailed model.

Guess I need my eyes checked or something.

Thank you Sir.

Given that this is a model railroad forum, I just expect all pictures to be models. Cool Shot none the less. Something I should try to model.

Heating the inside of the body shell with a heat gun or a mini torch wil soften it up so you can wreck it. The trick is not so much heat that you melt it or distort the paint and making the wreck lines sharp and clear not rounded and pushed in with a finger looking. Some people do this with old gondollas to make them look used and abused.

Seeing the bigger picture makes it possible to understand the background. Somebody got in trouble for that one.[swg]

First time I saw it, I thought it was a model, too. I said to myself "Why would anyone make a wreck scene out of such a well detailed loco?
Then I realised it was real.
