Next week I'll be switching internet providers, is there a way I can save or transfer my favorites list? I have approx 40 model railroad sits saved and I'd hate to loose them.

write them on a piece of paper. and then re-type them into your comp. Or save them into a word program and paste them back in.

Switching Internet service providers should not effect your favorites list in Internet Explorer. You can export your favorites list to another drive and reload it if you think there's a chance of losing it. Click on File, Import and Export, and follow the prompts from there to save your favorites listing.

Unless you're dealing with a company that insists on its own private browser (ARE there anymore? Even AOL lets you use other browsers these days) there is no need to save, or transfer over, your Favorites.

However, if you just want to be safe, it depends on what Operating System you are using. On my Windows XP machine, they are under:

C:\Documents and Settings\brian\Favorites

On Win9x, they'll be in a slightly different place, but similar.

Email me if you've got other questions. See my profile.

Are your favorites in a common browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox? Unless you are changing to or from AOL, you should be able to use the same browser regardless of internet provider. If that's the case, you should not lose the favorites you have saved. Another thing you can do (at least in Firefox, probably in IE also) is to "export" your bookmark list which creates a file that you can then "import" into another program. This can usually be done through the "manage bookmarks" task under the "bookmarks" menu in Firefox. Substitute "favorites" for "bookmarks" if using IE.

Should not be a problem, willist, just as everyone before has stated.

Changing internet providers has nothing to do with your favorites. I switched from AOL, to Earthlink to Charter Cable over the past 15 years and never lost a thing that was on my computer, and that ranged from operating systems of : Win 95, 98, sucky ME, and finally Xp. But if you are still worried just copy them all to CD.
