BLI GE AC 6000CW FINALLY HERE
Posted by dazzar on Thursday, September 22, 2005 6:18 AM
Has anyone purchased this loco as yet and if so any comments?
I received mine today ( UP Road ) and very impressive especially detailing.
BLI in my opinion has done pretty good job with this one.
Even crew in the cab. Sound is a little low but will adjust it later.
Bit noisy but maybe a little running in will eliminate that.

Saw a CSX unit at my LHS. The manager ran it on the demo track. Ran smoothly. Didn't hear any growling. Sound was nice! (I like the "reverb" of the horn). The adjustable volume was turned down "low" from the factory. Looks like BLI is listening as modelers were complaining that BLI units were too loud right out of the box. If I were modeling today's period, I'd get one.

I've got my sights set on a BLI E8.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

I also watched one on a demo track at the LTS. It ran and looked great. i thought the throttle response was great for a big, DCC engine. But I'm pretty much a newbie with this stuff. The guy in the store said he spent quite a bit of time tweaking the CV's and a proper lubrication for break in.

She sure is a beast! I love big, modern power (I also love little, 19th century steamers, too .... go figure). My layout is all small switcher type diesels and steam. I long for a big beast like you have.

Have fun.
Jim
