Does anyone recall a recent "How To" N scale layout in Model Railroader? If so, what issue? Along the lines of "Turtle Creek Central". Just recently got back into Model Railroading. Plus, just wanted to try N scale. Thanks.

There hasn't been a "project" Nscale layout in MR for a bit...but there have been a few over the past few years. Marty Mcguirk wrote a very great primer for Nscale by published by Kalmbach. Came out a couple of years ago. I maybe wrong, but the last Project layout for Nscale was in '97? Wisconsin Central...prototype..I must apologize to all, if I am wrong...good luck with Nscale!!!

Hello J.J.,
The N scale Carolina Central was featured in the December 1996 and January 1997 MR. Unfortunately back issues are no longer available, but you might be able to find them in MR's classified ad pages or on the Internet.
The CC is (it still exists and is on the second floor at Kalmbach Publishing Co., or was before I left) a neat little layout built on a door. I think it would be a great layout for someone who wants to get back into the hobby. The construction is straightforward, and the setting can be altered easily to another locale -- the Northeast, the West, Midwest, or Pacific Northwest. Just adjust the industries to match the locale.
Regards,
Paul Schmidt

Looking back at older issues..I found a more recent Nscale project layout...the "A&M" (Arkansas and Missouri)...started Feb of '99.
Hope this is helpful.

if you do a search for the arkansas and missouri,
the gentleman has his own website of the layout
also there was a smaller 3x6 layout i believe and it was wired for dcc, while the a&m was cab control
