Bachmann Amfleet Pasenger Cars
Posted by folkestonekeith on Friday, September 16, 2005 3:11 PM
Hi there,

I've just got hold of my Bachmann Spectrum AMtrak HHP-8 and am thinking of getting a couple of Bachmann Silver Series Amfleet Passenger Cars in the new Acela livery.

The latest Bachmann ad in "Model Railroader" says that the new Amfleet cars are all new tooling. Has anyone purchased any of the new cars? If so, how do they look?

Not being able to inspect any of these cars at my local model shop in the UK any comments on these newly-tooled cars would be much appreciated. With many thanks in advance.

hi there

nice to see another brit!

unfortunatly i have not been able to see them either. i am hoping to pick up some coaching stock at the swindon doo in 3 weeks. do you know about that? if you go to the uk NMRA page there is the national convention in swindon. well worth a visit on the saturday. there is a bring and buy there. i have been to 2 conventions and they have both padded out my rollingstock colle tion conciderably!! (also note the scaleforum in leatherhead next weekend. not an american do but again well worth a visit just to see the sheer standard of modelling that we all aspire to. you just have to ignore the rivit counters there!!)

I guess we just don't have the audience.
I posted a Kato Bi-Level Passenger remark and only 23 looked versus 123 looked on Atlas.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your message - will respond to you off-line regarding the exhibitions.

Hi Chuck

Maybe not many out there buy Bachmann coaches!!! Must admit that I have not yet bought any Bachmann US-outline coaches - the majority I've bought are Walthers with the odd Branchline...........

The Coach cars are just upgrades of their old Amfleet Coach tooling. However the Amcafe cars are all new.

A few months back I rolled one on the test track at my LHS and all I can say is...Wow. The underbody may not be as detailed as the Walters one, but the trucks roll much smoother and the cars have interiors. The wheels are even blackened for realism. My only gripe with the cars are the weird diaprams, which are silver instead of black. And I don't think they're springy like the ones on the Walthers amfleets.

I have a Bachmann heavy weight set N&W. If the cars you refer to have the same trucks wheels etc then they are very nice. Super smooth and nice detail.
