I saw a 5 unit articulated set and a 3 unit standalone set at the LHS the other day and they looked really nice, unfortunately I didn't have time to really get a close look at them. Has anyone used these? Do they require much work, or are they good just as they come? Thanks for any comments.
Kids are great for many reasons. Not the least of which is to buy toys "for them."

I have them, they track well, they are made of metal, the detail is a little over sized but beat the pants off the con-cor stuff, which is about the weight of a feather. I have about 10 of the Walthers cars. Only draw back for me is they are container well cars only, not multi-purpose like the CC ones, so trailers aren't able to ride in them (properly)
They are worth the $$, I put MT trucks on them.

I wondered about the trucks. Good to know, thanks.

The trucks are standard rapido type, so if you are doing MT couplers and trucks, you would want to switch them out. I just tried to find the link about someone that has a how to on making major detail changes to bring them in line with a better look. I think it's either N Scale of Nevada. BLMA or Alan Curtis that has a kit for these and the other well cars out.

I'll have to try to track that down.
