My wife hates the idea of model railroading, but has been supportive in giving up the space. I live in the Dallas area, too, and of course, we have no basements. But she let me have the upstairs family room for the 12 X 17 layout. Occaisionally, her frustration at having given up the space surfaces, but not badly. And, occaisionally, a vistor at the front door of our open floor plan home will look up and say something like, "OMIGOD, what is that thing up there" and of course, she freaks at the idea that our home won't make into home beautifiul or Architectural Digest! Of course, with three kids, it wouldn't anyway. The houses in that magazine are unattainable as the railroads we see in MR <br /> <br />
