Help! Someone please look in this months MR for..
Posted by Benjamin Maggi on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 10:18 AM
I want to order something from Trainworld, and I forgot to bring my MR to school with me today. I cannot remember the item number, but it is for N SCALE MDC OVERTON Coach sets. They are for $19.99 and I need the item number. I won't get home until after they close, so can anyone please look in their new MR for the ad? The item I want is in the TOP LEFT corner, and please look in the N scale section. Thanks to all for their help!

Not to be a jerk, but in the back of the magazine they have an index of advertisers. Trainworld should be listed. Don't worry, I am just happy my N scale passengers will get something to ride in now!

Doesn't list it in the ad. I need to call them and find the one I want, but they cannot look it up to check without the item #. There silly computer. I have a cell phone, so as soon as I find out the item number I will call and find out what roads they have, then order.

No no, I know what Athearn carries. In the ADVERTISEMENT on the Trainworld page in MR, they have an item number that is next to the picture and that item number IN THE AD is what I need. Giving them the athearn number won't be of much use, UNLESS it is identical to what Trainworld has. And my guess is that since the price is so low, they got a bunch when MDC still made them and thus would have the old MDC numbers.

Please just tell me the item number on the page in MR. I, like you, have already done the Athearn thing and checked ebay too. What I need is just the item number on the page.

Thanks for your help :)

I am being rude. Did you call them up, and did they then give you those numbers you quoted? If so, I am very sorry. If not, I can call them up once I know what their item number is for those cars. Thanks again

Ben,

Since you have a computer, you can also check their web site:

http://www.trainworld1.com/index.html

The item and the ad should both be listed individually on their site.

I know they did. BUT TRAINWORLD has its own numbering system, and I need to know what TRAINWORLD"S numbering system is. And it is listed IN THE AD. If you can look in the ad in MR and tell me the number listed by the picture (which is one number for the coaches, regardless of the road name. You tell Trainworld the item number, and then tell them the road you want) that would help. Otherwise, thank you for your time but you cannot help me. I need trainworld's number, not the new numbers Athearn assigned to them when it picked up the line.

I have checked their website, but they have not updated their "in magazine ad" section since 5/2004! Thus, that is no help. Thanks though. DOES ANYONE HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR MODEL RAILROADER that can check? Thanks!

To end this thread, I called them up and the item number was not only for their 34 foot cars but ALSO their 50 foot cars. They had in the 50 foot series JUST what I needed, as well as an engine in matching road name also on sale. YAY for me.

Alex, thanks about the minimum order heads up. I also planned on ordering an engine to pull them based on the type of car I got and what road it was in. If they didn't have the roads I wanted, they have (I believe) Amfleet coaches for only $3.99 each! THat is a steal! However, they also had Northern Pacific coaches (which I like) and a GP-18 in Northern Pacific (which isn't prototypical, but for my layout it is okay) They are now being sent to me. Thanks again everyone, I appreciate it.

What a waste. This guy is in school and instead of doing school work, he's ordering train stuff on the school's internet connection. Another future fast food worker who needs a computer to make change!

When I was in school, we didn't HAVE computers. We were just past the quill and inkpot stage! LOL

But I found LOTS of other ways to do things other than schoolwork!

When I went to school, it was to learn so I wouldn't be a burden on society. We learned how to spell, and if we didn't know how to spell a word, how to look it up in a dictionary. We learned grammar so we could write so others could understand us. We learned math so we could quickly figure model railroad grades(and other things). That's why I don't need a computer to make change when I buy something. We learned how to type, so we could write letters faster and were prepared for the future. Back then, school wasn't just a baby sitter for parents, it was a learning experience.

BTW, when did the NMRA get 103172 members?

Not in my lifetime. " "Kids, send them to school buy them books and they chew on the covers" we had a saying in school:
Study, the more you study the more you know, the more you know the more you forget, the more you forget the more you don't know, SO, why Study [:D]
And BEFORE you flame me I have a masters in chemistry and do own my own chemical co so I did study!

Bob:

I don't know about your school, but the school I attended in the 1960s had it's share of goof offs.

And just because someone is a lazy bum in school may not mean a lot when they get out in life ... the kid in our class who was the worst goof off is now a commercial airline pilot and and highly respected by his peers, not to mention the fact that he obviously makes good money.

Who would have thought ... [swg]

Bob Hayes,
I take offense to that. I am currently enrolled in Albany Law School and am a second year student. On tuesdays, 8 hours of classes spanning from 8:00AM to 7:30PM and only 3 and half hours of breaks. During that free time, when I am not studying, I choose to spend it on recreational activities. IF I only spent it in more books, my head would explode.
Furthermore, I DO work at McDonalds as a overnight manager because bills are tight and I was not born to rich parents who can just put me through school. I have lots of loans, but McDonalds helps me to better my future.
I suppose stuff like that wouldn't matter much to you, as your mind is already made up. At least when I am a lawyer and not busy working on cases, or not eating fast food in between court room appearances, I can run my new N scale coaches and engine on my layout.
