Old Lionel Train
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 3, 2005 9:36 PM
Hey all,

I know nothing about collecting, but a good friend of mine has an old train set that has practically never been opened, that he is thinking of selling. I am wondering if someone may be able to point me in the right direction as to who I might want to talk to. Possibly e-bay, any price ideas?
I am pretty sure that none of the cars or engine have ever been out of the boxes. Not sure of age, possibley 70's.
Actually have 2 sets, one has been played with.
The train is a Confederate Flyer:

Some additional boxcars:

More pics availiable upon request..
Thanks in advance ot everyone..

You'll get a faster response if you move this over to the Classic Toy Trains forum.

Looking at the first, the packaging reads "Lionel HO". Athearn was making HO products for Lionel back in the 60's so when posting over at classic include the full name, "Lionel HO" .

This is not the stuff from Athearn but later Hong Kong produced (I believe by Kader - the Bachmann people) Much of this was brought in through Canada (see loco) and the value is only to a Lionel HO collector. Best bet is ebay, but I have no idea what it might bring.

also the 1st set is confederation not confederate , there's a big difference !
the 2nd photo has 2 engines so may actually be 2 sets , or each piece may have been purchased seperately unless there is track and a controller
