I am new to the N scale passenger world, I am wondering what is a good manufacturer of N scale passenger cars without spending alot of money? Just something to get started in the N passenger world. [;)] [:I]

for N scale, cheap passenger cars(i hope i dont get any flak on this one) i like Con-Cor cars. they look REALLY good for the money you spend. i must admit though, a couple of the cars i have had to adjust the trucks to get them to work well, but for the most part i have had good luck with them. I like the Con-Cor cars, those cars and Riverossi are one in the same. The con-Cor can be found on Ebay at a fair price. My best Passenger cars are my Kato California Zeypher, they rolls so nice. I swaped the couplers on my Con-Cor cars with the Mt adjustable #1018.

I agree that Con-Cor?Rivarossi passenger cars are probably the best bang for your buck in terms of detail, model selection and availability. Most of what I have is Con-Cor. The Atlas cars are pretty good, too, and a little cheaper. Bachmann is okay, but suffers in any comparison.

E-Bay is the place to buy, but watch what you bid. The prices sometimes go through the roof for no real reason. Bide your time and you can get what you want.

Eventually you will be over taken by the Kato CZ cars. They don't get any better(I'm HO).
Something to save for.

Con Cor would be the ticket. And like everyone says, once you make a few adjustments to the trucks, they work just fine-most of the time...

If you can find them, the ConCor/Rivarossi sets are very nice. You can get 5 smoothsides or 6 heavyweights. Their Budd catrs are more recent, but not as fine as the Kato ones.
Atlas passenger cars are 30 yr old. Bachmann did an ol-time set & a series of 65ft shorties.
Model Power makes a nice 4 car set of ex-Lima heavyweights & some ex-Minitrix streamline cqars.
The best new passenger cars on the market may be the Athearn/MDC Overtons. Athearn has upgraded the MDC cars with screw mount Accumate trucks & new paint scemes. They should announce the Overland cars soon.

I just bought a set of Athearn/MDC Overton cars. They were pricey, but boy are they nice. To look at at least. I haven't got them actually running yet.
Kids are great for many reasons. Not the least of which is to buy toys "for them."
