Train show in Holland
Posted by Nieuweboer on Saturday, August 27, 2005 1:23 PM
Went to a train show/fair today. Exceptionally large number of american prototype material offered this time whereas normally only Athearn BB is available in larger quantities. Resisted the temptation to buy another Kato GP38 or SD40, while the Genesis F's that I was looking for were only available as A-units without the B's. Bought 2 Kadee PS-1 40' box cars for only $ 20 each. New to me were Life LIke Metal cars, bought one to find out how they behaveon the track. They weigh a ton but run so lightly that they move when you blow at them. Oh, and a I bought a HO scale 1939 Peterbilt tractor/trailer made by Matchbox in their Collectors Series. All in all a fruitfull visit for someone modelling american RR in Holland.

Cool! Thanks for that tip on the LL metal cars.I was looking at those at a LHS but was concerned with their weight(They ARE heavy) The detail looked pretty good for the money. (do you concure?) I too have seen that Match box is starting to make some scale stuff that looks good.I recently got a newer model semi and was really happy with the quality.

The detail on the LL metal cars is very good, even the brake rigging and the print is exceptionally sharp so I think they are a good val;ue for the money.
