Close-couple Proto 1000 F3?

I have Proto-1000 PRR F-3A&B. They're run really well, but I want them coupled closer together. Which Kadee (or equiv)should I use? Can I trim the draft gear to help? Note: I have 36" min radius curves and mostly #8 (some #6) turnouts, so I can get close without a problem, running-wise.

Got four sets of those babies.
according to www.kadee.com/conv/list.htm it's a 33 for close coupling.
For an exploded view-description go to www.kadee.com and under product infor, 1-79, click on it, then scroll down to #33 and click.
Happy railroading
