I need help
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 6, 2003 3:04 PM
I am putting a train around the top of my son's room. It is 12x13. Anything I should be aware of?

Also, I am looking at the G trains. Where is the best place to find them cheap?

I would presume this will be a G scale train. I would also presume there would be no turnouts to operate. The only other consideration would be to ensure the track is derailment proof so your son isn't injured by falling trains.

As far as cheap places to buy them, most of the model railroad magazines list many sources. Going on line can provide even more. Its just a matter of price shopping and reputable dealers. The price comparing is easy, but knowing if a dealer is what you expect takes a bit more research. I have found that typing the name of a business in the search window of my browser turns up information about it, both good and bad. Then its a matter of what is fact or imagined.

Put some sort of wall on the sides of the layout to catch derailed trains.

I have been doing business with Trainworld for more than 20 years. Just make sure you know what you want before you call them.

Something to regulate speed wouldn't be a bad idea (i.e. a resistor to lower the voltage in the track).
