Big Warrior River Bridge

Has anyone tried to build Gordon Odegard's BW River Bridge in MR's book Bridges and Trestles? It looks great but also looks like a (expletive deleted) to build. I was thinking of using gussets to replace the eyebolts. Be a lot easier. Comments?

Hi beemerboy
I haven't seen the book or picture you are referencing, but I am curious about the bridge. Would that be the trestle that is located at Tuscaloosa/Northport, Al. on the Black Warrior River? If so, I live 1/2 mile from it.

When it was built over 100 years ago, it was the longest wooden trestle in the United States and is still one of the longest. It is presently being used by the Kansas City Southern.

Hi Rex, the Black Warrior bridge referred to in Bridges & Trestles was built near Cordova, AL in 1887 by the Kansas City, Fort Scott and Memphis RR. It has a look all its own among steel bridges. If I could post pics, I would happily do so. Maybe, some day.

How about some pictures. I need a huge trestle in a year or so.
