I'd buy the items separately. You have a better selection of models than with what comes in sets, and you can buy better quality models separately. I wish I would have got rolling stock separately instead of in a set. <br /> <br />Also don't buy any trains until you've decided where and what you want to model. I myself am planning a change from a western prototype to either the NKP or a free lanced line in the eastern/midwestern US.
