Hello: I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is that Kato is coming out with an SD-38. The bad news is that it is in HO scale. The fact that it is coming out in HO, however, at least raises the possiblity that they will bring it out in N-scale at some time in the future. In the meantime, Kato did make a very nice N-scale SD40-2 a few years back. Maybe you could start with the SD40-2 frame and mechanism and replace the body with a GP38 style hood?
